New to s13s. Glowing headers, etc??

I bought a 240 not long ago and rebuilt the head. The vlave cover bolts were all stripped so I had to fix that...

So I finally got the head re-tapped and it all seals now, but there are a few issues...

1. The Idle control valve is not working or something else is wrong... The car sits at 1800rpm at all times...

2. The header on the last 2 cylinders are glowing red after about 2 minutes of sitting on idle (1800rpm because the ICV is not working...)

Here is the header video, kinda hard to see but it gives you the idea...

so WTF is that all about? Anyone had similar experiences?

BTW, the car is just a stock KA24E with some aftermarket headers....

If its glowing red hot those last two cylinders are probably running lean.

So I am probably not getting enough fuel to them? The motor runs perfectly fine and it would have lost some of it's feel with not enough fuel, but that might me it.

As far as your idle goes if you don't have emissons test in your area just plug up the IACV with some JB weld or something.

You can adjust your Throttle body screws to increase/decrease your idle, make sure your's isn't stuck open or something.

As far as the glowing headers, not cool. Verify your timing with a timing light, and look at the spark plugs on the back two cylinders compared to the front too. Are the plugs white or black? if they are black the last two cylinders are too rich or aren't getting good ignition so the fuel is combusting in the exhaust. This isn't easy to nail down to 1 cause unless you look at the plugs and stuff.

Alright. THanks for the help. I will look into this tonight and post my findings

I have emissions in my area so I probably can't just JB weld the ICV but I will figure something out...
