92 240sx with 96 KA24DE

Hi all

I recently put a KA24DE from a 96 240 in my car because my 92 ka went out.

I was told that to make the swap I would need to swap over basically everything, main things including the 92 intake manifold, the 92 exhaust manifold and the 92 distributor, which I did.

The car runs, but it doesn't idle. The problem was identified as being a vacuum leak of some sort from in between the intake manifold and the head itself. I recently installed a new gasket, but that didn't seem to do the trick.

Maybe the problem is that I have the wrong gasket? I am using a gasket for a 96, maybe it's different? I thought the intake ports were pretty much identical.

Any other reason air would be able to get into that area? everything is definitely torqued properly, all bolts in place

i did the exact same swap back in 2003.
all i had to swap was the AC bracket/pulley, and the exhaust mani.
ran like a champ. didnt have to swap a damn thing else.
not sure what your problem is?
my next door neighbor just got himself a pignose and was idling like doodoo.
i found disconnected vac line and it smoothed out. check all your hoses/lines. again.
make sure all the air getting to the throttle body is coming from the MAF, no leaks. that was his problem.

Well I just had a mechanic look at the other day. He said the leak is coming from inbetween the intake manifold and the head near cyl 4. He said he was able to keep the car idling but spraying carb cleaner in there, so he knew that was the spot.

how is this possible?

I would pull the intake and put a gasket in there, it's a pretty simple operation
