What would cause white smoke at cold startup then go away? also clutch slipping?
Start cold...morning...white smoke, would it be the exhaust? hks blowing out bigger volumes of exhaust?
doesnt do it any other times just cold starts could this be related to a problem im having with my clutch? mechanic says its a clean break but its slipping and i think it may be a oil leak on it or something |

primary by products of combustion are water and carbon dioxide. when you shut off your engine, there is water in the exhaust. it settles around. There is also water in the air in most places that will settle around the right surfaces. when you cold start, the exhaust gets hot, the water boils off. evaporates. thus the white smoke.
completely normal and all cars do it to some extent. replace your clutch yourself. that way, when you get inside, you can see for yourself if there is any oil on it, or if the disc is just gone. or if the flywheel needs help. or whatever |

valve stem seals. when they are slightly worn, oil from the head drips down the valves when stationary, and when you start it up , gets burnt, hence the white smoke. as it goes along it will get worse. if it does, time to change them. check your oil level, though the consumption shouldnt be big...
