what is a good clutch?

looking into buying a clutch for my car. its an s14 with a redtop sr in it. the clutch on the car now is stock and feels pretty dead. im looking for a clutch that strong and good to daily drive on. any suggestions would greatfully help.

Exedy Stage 1 or just the OEM replacement by Exedy.

If you're tight on money..
Go for Clutchnet clutches.
Cheap, and they hold good.

I bought their 6puck sprung clutch.

I've had mine for almost 2 years.
This is with constant clutch kicks, hard shifting,
hard driving, mountain runs, drifting, and daily driving.

I threw on a turbo and its still holding good.
Even upgraded the turbo and its still not slipping.

exedy stage 1 <--good clutch if your stock turbo

after buying the exedy stage2(3puck sprung), i never want another cerametallic clutch again
the chatter killed my motor mounts, and tranny mount

FYI: this is just a note
i have 275 tires on my car, cerametallic clutch, over 300hp
the clutch grabs real hard and so does the tires
the transmission was made in 1996, its shot now cause theres no slip between the tires and the clutch
also the diff has a little bit of play(not sure if thats normal)

just some advice get a clutch with some slip, sprung disc also

i would definetly suggest the ACT HDSS..

It has way more holding power than stage one and stage 2 exedy and is a full face daily driver. Many people seem to like the exedy but i have had bed experiances with them under high horsepower track abuse. But it might work for some people and it might not. All really up to you..

F1 Racing clutches use an exedy preasure plate with upgraded disks that can withstand more heat and are only in the low $100 range so that might be something to look into if you are low on money.. but if you want the best i would have to suggest the ACT HDSS ...

Either way let me know i can hook u up

Good Luck.!

act hdss here, slips at full boost for me (im over 330rwhp). Held fine when I was at 300rwhp. A lot of people I have talked to said to get spec stage 3+, but I'm gona make the jump to carbonetics as soon as I have the cash. Which prob wont be for awhile, since now I'm thinking about getting a house because the market is almost too good to pass up, being a first time buyer, in socal. It all depends where you want to be hp range. I also had the exedy stage 1, pedel feel was too weak for me, but it never slipped, used it all the way to 250rwhp.

i have an OS Giken super single.

fucking great, engages aggressive enough for drifting, but not as much as a twin plate.

love it, no slippage at all and rebuild kits are pretty low priced.

great clutch
