My car is shaking from around 65-70 MPH, and I know that not to long ago somebody else had the problem, but I cant find the post.  There were a bunch of good suggestions on it, would anybody happen to know where it is?

(im almost positive it was somewhere here in tech talk)

I recall that thread. Did you try a search? In fact, it is a common question. hell, my car does it too. I don't know if it's a bent crossmember, bushings, TC rods, shocks, tires, alignment, steering rack, the list goes on....

your hubcaps (if you have them) might be slightly bent
i had this problem before and i just removed them

well actually one of my hubcaps does have a chunk taken out of it (from before I bought it) ....Do you think this could be y?

i had the same problem , turned out i needed new tires... replaced all four w/ kumhos... problem gone.

If one of your belts in the tire is broken, it will vibrate like that....especially if its a front tire and you are braking hard.  I had a broken belt on the inside sidewall lip on the passenger side.

The most common thing that causes shaking between about 60-75 MPH is your tires being out of balance.  Try having them balanced and MOST LIKELY the problem will go away.  Other things that could contribute to this, but are not usually the main factor are, 1) bent rims/wheels 2) tires are out-of-round.  As for the hubcaps causing a problem like that, hmmm....interesting I have never heard of that before, I guess it is possible, but seems rather odd.

As for the other suggestions, Alignment will NOT cure this problem as the alignment changes angles of the tires.  This means that it will affect 1) Tire wear (Toe In/Toe Out) 2) Tire wear (Camber Positive/Negative) and 3) Pulling left or right (negative cross caster/positive cross caster).  An alignment will not cure a vibration as it has nothing to do with that.  Bent suspension components tend to lead to a messed up alignment though (bent/broken parts/frame/etc.), usually they do not cause the vibration that you are feeling, but I guess if something is loose under the car it could cause a vibration, but usually associated with that will be a noise.

My suggestion would be to get the tires balanced and then go from there.  If you have a bent rim, the shop will/should tell you about it.
