I hope Nissan execs are regularly reminded in person how much they monumentally fucked up pushing the IDx so hard only to pull out at the last minute and pretend the whole thing was a goddam design experiment. You don't tell people it's built on an s chassis and all the specs you "intend" to include in a finished product if the thing only exists for grill and c pillar design ques.

like anyone was actually fucking buying those things past their second year... Outside of getting Nissan out of near bankruptcy in the late 90s, it really seems Ghosn shit the bed in regards to catering to market demands for sports cars. The fact that the successor to the 370z AND GTR STILL havent made their actual debuts speaks worlds! |

Ghosn getting pushed out, legally or not, appears to be Japanese executives trying to save the company as an independent Japanese company. Good on them for that.
Now stop the bleeding and save the company.

very much agreed. from what i was reading, the Japanese were getting very pissed off that he was basically trying to unify Nissan, Mitsu and Renault as like one big company. basically he was really going against Japanese business tradition in a lot of his decisions over the last decade in trying to unify a Japanese brand with a foreign brand.

The transmissions are shit. They are basically 2000's KIA at this point. Anytime once asks me about getting a car, I straight up tell them to avoid Nissan minus the Maxima.

The have all the tools necessary to come back bigger and badder. They're still one of the biggest manufacturers, and now they own Mitsubishi Motors too.
They put out that variable compression turbo engine a few years back and it's seemed to be successful. They clearly still have the engineering chops. The cars are more boring and old than ugly and every new concept gets people excited. I think they just need to start making the changes necessary for success.

The Z is going to be the ?halo? car they tout to sell the rest of the line up. But they really really have a lot of work to do to convince customers to come back. These cars can?t just exist they need to lead segments and I?m not sure they?re going to be able to pull that off so quickly. They need to be as aggressive or more than Hyundai and Kia have been. Only time will tell.

I mean has there actually been a better looking wagon than the current V60? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sure you could argue the new RS6 Avant or the E Class (I’d argue against that though) but the Audi is twice the cost and the MB starts where the Polestar Edition ends.

I'll actually say BMW, MB, Audi, Volvo all make attractive wagons. Or maybe I just love euro wagons haha.

The focus being at all comparable to something like a v60 is exactly why station wagons are all but dead. I want the wheelbase and cargo area.

if I had to get a station wagon, id get a sg forester xt (with the slight detuned wrx engine). yes its a suv but lower it and it looks no different than a boxy wagon. great aftermarket too. sf foresters are nice too but probably more of money pit. sadly they are getting hard to find.
just cant get into modern station wagons. not a lot of options and way too expensive. like the older boxier designs more and would prefer a volvo 850 over the new v70 and an audi b5 s4 / rs4 over the current rs6 |
