It drives like any 240D would. A little rugged and diesel like. Still slow by todays standards but pretty quick for an 35 year old diesel. It's lowered on vogtland springs and shitty kyb shocks. It gets about 29mpg mixed. The rearend is pretty annoying because it cruises at 60mph higher in the rpm's than I really like. I have another rearend that I may swap out and see how much it helps out. I think a 5th gear would really be what the car needs. It has never been dyno'd. It's an inline 5 diesel, with an A2W intercooler, garret vgt turbo (Jeep Liberty). It's running 15psi and not making a lot of power. It needs the injector pump modified to make any real power which is money because there isn't a lot of places to get it done ($1300+). I don't plan on putting a whole lot of money into it really. It has no AC from the factory. It was an European delivery special order and has basically no options. Crank Windows, manual heater, manual sunroof. I like it though. It's unique and has potential yet still economical. Not very luxurious, but that's why I have the S-klasse. |

Pretty cool video. The music makes me think the guy doing the tear down is probably wearing a Static-X shirt though.

I guess ill start it back up. The car in my sig. It has a 997 m97 3.8 taken to 4.2 by vision motorsports with gt3 and Fabspeed upgrades. Basically the car Porsche should've built.

Suppose I'm a part of this thread now too...
2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Just recently retrofitted a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor front bash bar onto it... Love it. Hahahaha.

Rather than make a new thread, I'm bumping this one.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1975-porsche-911-12/ Time for a bash post, because I fucking hate that people are saying this piece of shit is well-executed. The front fenders are off by a mile. Factory flares are mounted with the wheel arch just below halfway down the headlight, if you draw a line parallel to the top of the fender. These flares are mounted at the bottom of the headlight. It takes an elegant shape and gives it elephantitis. The flares aren't the same size and shape as any factory flares. The rear flares are rotated slightly, resulting in a plunging body line from the tail light to the wheel well. They're also mounted slightly too low and again creating an expanse of unsculpted metal where there should be sculpted metal. The rear bumper has a reinforcing lip around its lower edge, something the factory never did. It adds a superfluous line to the rear and makes it busy. The right rear tail light doesn't fit to the point you can see the body behind it. The roof scoop shares no design aspects with the rest of the car. It has no flow, it's just a curved bit of sheetmetal installed for no reason- a swap to 1968 door frames would have resulted in more airflow with less design departure. There's no central front cooler and yet there's no block-off in the front bumper. It's just a big negative space in the front of the car. Left lower bumper has a big jog in it too. Fender/turn signal/horn grille/bumper fit is wonky. I don't even want to talk about the interior. Poor finishing work, bad design decisions, a fake roll bar that doesn't even pretend to look real... Just wasted effort and shiny shit. If a client came to my shop and said, "I love this car. I need you to make me one just like it," we'd say no because we cannot count on their taste to jive with our ability. |

Didn't even know this thread existed.
my 2015 991.1 GT3. Its not as cool as air-cooled era P cars but I still love it. After countless S chassis and other cars, I was lucky enough to acquire this in 2018. |

I still remember reeling in a 997 Cup car under braking and turn-in at Streets of Willow. Kicked my ass out of corners, though, but not enough that I couldn't put time on him from turn 3 through 8. Kinda miss that.
Air-cooled Porsches are in a huge slump for most people, but I'm still seeing exceptional cars bring pre-slump money and am working on builds of $400k+. The rich will get richer and we'll see some incredible money flooding the scene. PS- Congrats, K_Style. |
