KA What is this intake sensor? KA24DE

Just bought this car, I know the sensor circled in green is the MAF, but there's another sensor jammed into a hole in the intake, what is it?

Intake Air Temp Sensor, this is not the factory sensor, it seems like previous owner wired this sensor from a different vehicle in.

What? That is the factory sensor... OBD2 S14s have both an IAT sensor and MAP sensor from the factory. They dont use them for fuel trims, just emission but they're there nonetheless.

Iat sensor off of my 97. His just has the rubber grommet still around it.

Here's a pic of the OEM map sensor.

OP, it's really not doing anything for your car. Review of the FSM will show that it's just there as part of the OBD2 emissions control.

Thanks guys. I don't currently have to worry about emissions but I might in the future. Found the sensor location in the FSM, it normally mounts in the back of the air filter box, but my air filter box doesn't have a hole for it, oh well.
