Sr20vet rwd conversion which pistons?

Hi guys I?m building. Rwd sr20vet using p12 head and p12 turbo cam with super tech shimless valves +1mm

I just found out the pistons we using are CP DET pistons so there is no valve relief

The motor is assembled and spun by hand no sound of hitting, but I?ve heard that I need to use sr20vet pistons.
Is this true ?

I am currently running det stroker pistons on my vet. And I have no issues as long and your clearances are good you shouldn’t have a issue.

dumb question but does the lift change once the vvl is activated at higher rpm ?

Yes....hence the variable valve LIFT in the terminology.

You will have to clay your engine WITH the high lobe activated. It serves no purpose to turn the engine over on the low lobes as that tells you zilch on valve clearance......

re checked the clearance and it does hit when the vll is engaged.

is it safe to just fly cut the pistons for the valve relief or am i better of swapping with sr20ve pistons

whats your budget? if you have to pay for a shop to disassemble the engine, and a machine shop to cut reliefs, it can get expensive.

if you can do your own disassembly and machine work, then its obv cheaper.

if you want to skip the cost of machining all together, just buy new pistons that are designed for this application.
