I guess since the build was inspired by Broadfield he also decided to part it out before it was finished.

Here is what usually happens.

1) You are young and want a car with every mod possible done to it. You buy a $5k car and start buying parts, blow all your money and realise you can't afford to do what you imagine in your head. Then you either part it out or drive around in a half finished piece of shit telling everyone you aint care.

2) You are old enough and in a position in life to modify a car the way you imagined when you were young. You blow all your money and realise you have a family and responsibilities and spending $50k on a $5k car is stupid unless you are a manchild still trying to impress 18yr olds. Then you part it out and go buy a new $50k sports car that has a warranty and is better in every way and less embarrassing than driving a shitbox 25yr old car.

OR you go out and buy a Z06 or GTR for $60K, still impress the 18yr olds but now fall into the midlife crisis crowd where they ask you to attend wine tasting and swinger parties.

I disagree, but that's just me. You don't build a car because you want to make it better than some car that's 10,15,20 years newer. You build it because you want to make it your own.

I'm 31, I make 100k a year plus, my 93 coupe is hardly a shit box in ANY WAY, and I can't care less about some 18 year old kids approval or not. I simply like my car because I do. That's the only reason someone needs to build something.

And if you really need to sell your 25year old "shit box" to be able to afford to have a kid or buy a house... Well you need to re think your life.

Well after 6 years since my last progress post, I am back at it. A marriage, a newborn and a house move put things on hold, but I am pushing to get my 240 back on the road this summer. I had to enlist the help of some friends, but will get this going again. We just mocked one of the most challenging tasks of getting the exhaust/cats routed between the frame and through the steering rack.

That's all for now, but I am excited to be moving forward again.

Great build! Wish my car looked this clean.
These are the same cats that Pete used as they are part of the GM E-Rod CARB approved crate engine package. In order to pass CARB we have to install all the parts from the engine package, which includes the very valuable CARB exemption sticker.

Just a side note that my friend bought Pete's car and was able to get it smogged using the charcoal canister from my stock E-Rod engine package. My friend eventually sold Pete's car to someone in Hawaii. I got the charcoal canister back so I can get smogged as well when I finish this build.
