SR sr20det redtop oxygen sensor always on

I've searched and searched and have not found anything that comes close to answering my question.

My o2 sensor on my dump is always getting power key on or not. It already ruined my old sensor and has killed my battery a number of times. I have a new sensor and am ready to install it but I don't want to ruin my new sensor. I know the brown wire is supposed to be switched hot. So my question is, where does the brown wire go once it joins the main harness?

If I can't get an answer I'm going to cut into the wire and install my own relay to come on with the key.

Any help would be great. Thanks everyone.

There's no need to add a relay for the oxygen sensor, you could get a wiring diagram and find any 12v ign source and wire it to that. If you where to wire in a relay you would/could use the same ign switched source power for the oxygen sensors power. So if you wanna add a relay and extra not needed wires go ahead, i'll probably fix it when you sell the car anyway.

That's the thing though, I can't find a wiring diagram. The closest I can find is what you have to do to put a sr harness into a 240sx. Any ideas of where I can find a schematic?

The sr wiring diagram should suffice, but the fsm for your chassis is just as good. Just don't use something critical like the fuel pump relay, although you could.

Hey man I had a similar issue but instead of getting it solved I ended up disconnecting the o2 and running a signal wire from my innovate wideband. It has a simulated narrowband output to mimic the factory signal. Works great and I never looked back

I am in the middle of installing an innovate wideband. I completely forgot that it has the simulated narrowband. I just found where my 02 sensor was wired wrong and will be fixing that tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the help.

you can also use the O2 sensor without power. Just connect the one single signal wire and it will work fine. It will just take longer to heat up.

Well I fixed the issue. Traced the o2 sensor power source back to where the sr harness is spliced in with the original 240 harness. It was wired hot with another wire. Found a 12v switched wire, spliced the o2 into it and now no more constant hot o2.

Thanks everyone for all the help!
