Thumbs up My Electronic Cutout Setup!

So today I went down to my long time trusted shop (used to take all my customer's car there when I had my own shop for exhaust work)
In case anyone needs the info, Rene's Muffler, 2323 Pasadena Ave, 90031

I got the parts from Jegs IIRC? Anyways time for some pics!

So when I tell him the idea I have he shows me a 3" exhaust for $200 bux, he still has it there if anyone needs:

So after dicussing my plans with the car he suggested I mount the dump as far back as possible.
* Remember I am still running a stock muffler.

He also suggested a turn down so the rest of the parts underneath the car do not get hot, IE: gas tank

I'm gonna paint it with hightemp paint, but here it is mostly complete... its not wired yet though. *If you guys have any ideas on how to wire it up let me know, I was planning on passing it though the gromet under the spare tire and using the power off the cig lighter*

seems like it would not be needed, as you already have a 3 in exh w. minimal restriction.

run the wire up into the engine bay. There is a groument on the engine bay near the master cylinder. I used to run my cut out wire through there when i had a cut out. I forget what that groument is for, but i just know my boost guage line goes through there as well.

Umm...isnt a cut out that far back kinda pointless??? Shouldnt it be before the cat so it can bypass all the restriction, specially when youre still running the stock pipings...

I think you guys mis-understood,

3inch downpipe -> gutted cat -> 3inch exhaust cutout -> to stock muffler

And placing the cutout that far back is actually better for 2 main reasons:
1) It wont scrape
2) According to Steve Shadows ( a tuner on these boards) its better to place the cutout as far back!

Enjoy

Maybe some better pictures would help you guys see the engineering of this. Ill pull it off the car and take pictures tomorrow

Lets not.

Cut-out's = full of fail.

I bet you $10 that you make less power on the dyno with the cutout open.

Read this book : [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Scientific-Exhaust-Systems-Engineering-Performance/dp/0837603099[/ame]

it will change the way you think about what you are doing.
