most of my gauge cluster isnt working so i decided to start checking wires before i go and buy a new cluster. i bought the car recently and all of the car is stripped basically. im using a simple circuit tester to test the wires and hardly any of the wires are making the tester light up. am i doing something wrong or is the wiring in my car completely messed up.

please help
