ECU question

I took a nice long break from cars in general and now I'm right back into it with another s14 I picked up from Colorado.

I'm a little stumped the car came with a s13 redtop sr20.

It has a #29 (A11-B45-G71) ECU which with a little searching I see is a ka24 ECU done by RS enthalpy a couple of years ago.

I didn't really pay much attention to that fact until I tried to plug in a Apexi PFC I bought from another user and got no fuel pump prime, no start, and no power to the handheld device that plugs into the ECU.

My question is this. Why the hell would someone do that?

And what do I need to do in order to run SR ECUs/Standalone ECUs meant for SRs

Thank you.

You will need a #62 23710-50F00 for manual trans or a #63 23710-50F10 for auto trans.

I’m guessing an Sr ECU wouldn’t fit into a KA harness? Correct because I plugged in an apexi power fc meant for an Sr.

All OBD1 ECU connectors are the same, so that won't tell you anything. The harness is very different because the SR20DET is COP and the KA24DE has a distributor. COP is why you need one of the ECU's I listed above.

Copy that I sent a pic of the ECU to rsenthalpy and they tell me it’s still an SR ECU so now I guess I have to figure out if it’s red too or black top.

The ECU part number A11-B45-G71 is for 91-94 S13-KA24DE 240SX with auto trans for US market. It has Nissan part number 23710-53F11. It will not run the COP ignition system on a FWD SR20DET.
