bluetooth speaker instead of a radio?

Anyone ever run a bluetooth speaker instead of a radio inside of their cars?

The only reason I'm even considering this is because I had rewired my chassis with just the bare minimum in mind. I usually drive without a radio anyways but it would be nice to have directions when I'm going on a longer drive.

I've used one on occasion like if I was going on a long drive and wanted to listen to music, my car is ridiculously loud but it was just barely good enough.

Here is something kinda cool one of the Freee's guys did for a more fixed mount of a speaker

I just had mine sitting in the passenger seat.

Once I stop being lazy I plan on putting speakers and a sub in the car and just running a bluetooth amp so I don't need a head unit though.

On long drives, back in the day when phones had a stereo jack, I used to use some closed back headphones that cut the drone and gave great sound.

Not to grave dig this thread, but I literally had a bluetooth speaker ziptied to my cage right in between the seats. It was called an Oontz Angle I think. Worked fine, just ordered speakers and a head unit, along with some noise insulation. The speaker really wasn't loud enough for highway speeds.

You're better off just using a rechargeable portable bluetooth speaker and an a/c adapter. Put it in the cupholder or whatever.

I actually just finished a pretty indepth bluetooth setup.
Definitely not a cheap way out to do it right.. My setup consists of this chain:

Bluetooth receiver -> EQ -> signal splits off the EQ into my tiny 8" powered sub under my seat and also to the F and R channels for the door speaker amp -> made a speaker harness off the amp to the new F&R speakers.

It's really nice because I got to keep my 90's Alpine in the deck for the aesthetic, but it has the modern sound and convenience. All volume and song control is from my phone. Connects automatically as soon as the ignition is switched on, just like any modern vehicle.
