Finally they made a channel of my second most favorite 240sx..... So to be my first cause the channel is hot LOL.... You will know what I mean when you watch.... But its a 180sx based just made 54'4 on what looks like a very stock chassis......

I hope you guys enjoy like I do. I've been following this car on different Japan websites for almost 3 years now.

S15 under suzuki... but he hasnt raced in 2 years cause of what happened at wtac 2019.... too much downforce and the tire exploded and wrecked the chassis. Check the other vids on that channel. Its pretty entertaining.

I thought he looked familiar and then I read the description and realized who the driver was! Nishio is an awesome dude. I got to drift with him down in Cali a few years ago and we chatted for a bit in the pits afterwards. Didn't know he was also a badass racer.

Well the front wasnt tube ended lol.... even upper rad suppprt was there. Thats gotta be some props for going around tsukuba at 54.4 lol

Yeah it's a very Japanese style build, working with what the car has to offer. Tube stuff is a very American style, not that it's a bad thing. It's funny that pro drift cars in FDJ and D1 are starting to do very similar builds that FD USA has done for the last few years. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but interesting to see their take on it.

54.4 is blazing. Always impressed with the S chassis, even after all these years it still shines.

And Suzuki is still in process of rebuilding his car, the last i've seen he was trying to make a custom foam insert for a bucket seat. He also had said he was aiming for 47s at Tsukuba when the cars back together.

I tried found his channel but most of it is just in car runs.... I liked this cause he is talking to ando san and about tires and about different things.... but nonetheless its fun

The article states that it was running in the 55 second range, with genuine rear suspension last year.

Ohhh interesting, thanks! All that work in the rear and then keeping McPherson up front. Weird but cool!

Looking it over it kinda makes sense to just do the rear. Sure you could go double wishbone in the front, but how much of an advantage would you get at the cost of the added weight/complexity. You'd get slightly better geometry under turns, and better steering feel, but is it worth all the work? Raising the rear subframe and going inboard suspension gives you all sorts of room for your wheel/tire combo, and allows geometry to play nice and low ride heights. I always felt the rear end of the s13 limited the car for full blown race stuff.

Not the biggest fan of the exhaust routing, but I do enjoy the hanger integrated into the cage.

Also, anybody have any info on the funky variable cam setup? it kinda looks factory, but kinda doesn't..

One thing I love about Japanese builds is that you'll still see imperfect welding in obscenely fast builds.

Also, how does that harness mounting point pass tech? That goes against every single safety recommendation and warning I've ever read and will lead to spinal compression in a crash.

Yeah I dunno why harnesses always look so terrible in japan. but that inboard suspension is fire..... How do I get my hands on that..... and I like the adjustable blade rear sway.... so hawt

Mmmm I'd say there are pros and cons definitely, but I doubt weight is one of them.

Looks like the VTC solenoid is unplugged, meaning VTC is probably disabled. Or are you talking about something else?

Sure it would add more weight, double the ball joints, double the control arms, a larger knuckle. A lot of oem's that use the design go all aluminum for that reason. It's kind of a bulky system, so they do the best the can to mitigate it's issues.

I love your "Mmmm", I can almost see the face you'd be making at me.

My eyes must of been playing tricks on me when I was looking at the VCT, it looked like they had hacked up that valve cover, but comparing it to other photos, it just looks a little beat up.

Idk about you, but this doesn’t scream heavy to me.

EDIT: Hahah Jared, I'm sure you can see my face. Below is an example of a double wishbone on the MCA hammerhead. I'm not knocking the people that built the green car, just remarking on the fact that they went double wishbone in the rear when it seems like the rear of an s-chassis is pretty solid in most cases, and there are off the shelf options that correct a lot of the kinematic deficiencies. McPherson, on the other hand, seems to be a pretty aggressive compromise, mostly with static camber, that a double-wishbone effectively addresses.

The use of "heavy" was a statement to the weight of a hand-built double-wishbone rear compared to an existing multi-link.

That tub appears to be a different car than the green car.

It was a statement about the front vs the weight of the McPherson suspension. I posted that picture from my phone so I didn't feel like typing out an explanation. I edited my above post.

Jesus, that what the hammerhead looks like underneath? That poor car, lol. In that configuration, it could be lighter than a basic M.S, but even they used an aluminum hub (which btw, looks awesome, but expensive as shit). I get it, in WTA, those guys are the super big guns as far as hot laps, so to just be in the same ring as the big guys, you need to come out swinging with every trick you can think of. The Barramundi's rear subframe is made out of basic square stock and steel cantilever components, nothing amazing. Long story short the green car is cool, but MCA's car is on a whole different level.

Whos knows the reasoning, honestly. Could of been budget, could've been time, could of been driver preference. It would be interesting to see what the hammerhead could do on Tsukuba, I don't think it's ran there yet. It's nuts to think that cars are running so fast on this track. I remember it used to be an end all be all if a car ran a 59.9, and now the record is a 49.4. Just crazy.
