another 1jz coupe build

well i got sick of v8's and sold my s14 for some money and a 1jz motorset


couple weeks later found a decent coupe to be my next project


about a week and a half after i got the coupe i started to get ready for the motor and picked up alot of things ill need. tech2 1jz swap kit except no shifter extension,mishimoto radiator,and fuel lines with an fittings and a new fuel filter.


just picked up the motor the other day, loading it up at my friends shop


brought it home and now im waiting to buy a few more things and ill be ready to drop the motor in after i get the car caged.

im in need of a jzx90 ecu and r154 shifter extension for the swap still so ill be scavenging for those parts as i save for the cage and try to sell my wheels -___-
ive been trying to sell my old wheels that were on my s14 for a few months now -____-
pair of 18x11 +12 nismo lmgt2 & pair of 18x12 +10 work vs-mx




ill post more as i build the car and get the motor dropped in.

small update:
got the sohc out and sold it to my neighbor

collecting motor parts and car parts before it all goes together, got a driftmotion pulley kit and chase bays power steering and clutch line. got a main hoop for the cage bent from my buddy eric hill.

sold my 18x12 work vs-mx

picked up a bucket seat and got some bride fg rails for a good deal and got the seat in so the cage can go in as the motor does as well

gotta pick up my steering wheel setup from chris over at jdm engine pro and order my megasquirt cause i said forget looking for a stock ecu.
just waiting around on selling old stuff and paychecks to buy more parts, also im figuring out a way to transport the car over to the shop im droppin the motor in at.
just have to sell my nismos now and the car should be running soon after that!

that tranny looks like its the rare soarer r154 that comes with the shifter extension already. i remember reading a long time ago that some guys used that shifter without having to get a custom made one, but i can't seem to find those posts anymore. you should try mocking it up first before changing it out for a custom one. it'd be interesting to know for sure if it works or not.

Yes! This is a soarer tranny. It came off a vvti 1jz. Luckily at the shop ill be doing my swap at we have another r154 from a soarer so I'm going to replace my shifter extension with the one on that tranny.

picked up my old sparco and a new 255 fuel pump

and ended up with this

brand new real supermade aero for pop ups.

only catch is that the kit is for a hatch so i have to sell the rear bumper and buy a coupe bumper.
also gave my friend thats doing my wiring money for the megasquirt and dakota digital box.

no not yet.

well my car has been sitting in the driveway for almost 5 months now because I was waiting for shop space to use the lift and space but this week I finally decided its just time to get her running so im doing my swap in my garage.

a small update as of now but there will be more progress very soon.

moved the car into the garage and cleaned up and worked on getting the bay prepped for the new cross member and most likely a stitch weld.

took my isis coils off and got some d2's with very low mileage

only downfall is that one strut is bent because the previous owner got hit a few weeks after installing them so im going to be ordering a new coil from d2.

also got a pair of ssr mk1's for the coupe because 15's rule and im over 18's and prices of tires lol


will update this build thread more as I make progress. hoping to have it done by the end of this month or at least done before christmas.

I am aware, but I also did not purchase these I traded for my isis coils that came on my car because the guy just wanted to get his car rolling to sell it.

slight update. still collecting some parts for the car/motor and decided to spoil myself a little bit as well.

put my crossmember in tonight and decided to put in a coilover and a control arm and see how the wheels looked and it came out pretty good. i expected alot more poke lol. the fenders are 100% stock right now so i guess ill be able to pull them of with a roll and pull...

Yessir! I was supposed to have it done for the last all star bash but lagged it pretty hard lol. I actually picked up some 440cc aristo injectors for $60 from a supra group on Fb so I'm fine for now

fuel lines done today, still have to cut the sending line to put my fuel filter in.

and down pipe and thermostat got delivered from drift motion today

gotta do the rear main seal and pilot bearing tmrw

alright so i figure its time to do an update even though not much has happened...
I got solid shifter bushings and also got my tripod shifter fixed

had my water neck chopped to run the KA radiator I have

ended up coming up on a set of cr kai's and sold them in a few weeks


also dropped my motor and harness of at my buddys house and hes been working on the harness

did my knuckles and flca's and put my brakes back together, going to have to chop out the oem tubs.



my new coils just came in the mail today!

and the new front springs i have for the FA500's


ill be taking my new coils to odi this week for a revalve and new rear spings and helper spring for the front since the 326 springs are tiny
car should be back on the ground soon after that I just have to wait for my harness to be ready to drop the motor back in and do a few more things and it should be good to go
