So is that why there are so many 'collected' Escort RS's and Cossie's that ex-pats have over there in cali?

Collector vehicles are possible to register dependent upon local regulations.

IIRC in WA state you could register a vehicle as a collector's car if it met certain requirements, and could bypass many registration requirements held standard to normal cars if the vehicle is driven less than a certain amount of miles a year. Something like 3K miles a year. I'd of course need to check with my father, but I believe that is how we got my brother's supercharged big block Nova registered and drivable on the street.

Sometimes, you will find small loopholes in the system... but you need to be careful about whether you view the loophole as "solid" enough to commit forking out a ton of cash on.

Also, loopholes like this have a tendancy to get closed fairly quickly, as no "rule maker" likes to see people who have "cheated" the rules.

Because they are legal to import. Import Eligibility Number: VCP9 Docket Number: 95-25

I am not canadian nor did I install any accord headlights onto a car, thats the DOT laws in Canada though. I have never had a gtst,or gts25t either I was simply proving a point. I know what a frame rail is and the bottom of both cars are very similar. If not then why does a s13 and r32 rear subframe share everything? You can literally swap them, also the front crossmember to what car is needed for a rb swap in a s13? DING DING DING a R32 crossmember! Wow!

Besides wheel wells and shock mounting points in the front there is no significant difference, and the shock mounting points of a r32 gtr are the same as a z32. Shocks in the rear as well.

congratulations captain obvious, its called cost-cutting solutions across different platforms. just because a car can share a caliper or a cross member does not mean its fucking identical. similar? sure. identical? NO. its like saying you look similar to your brother. are you your brother, lloyd? are you identical twins?

think about it, lots of parts can interchange or be MADE to interchange but out the box, its not always the case.

anyway, we're rambling about a completely dead topic. if you think putting accord headlights onto your skyline is a realistic solution, then thats on you. open business and see if people will share your fine appreciation for putting shitty accord headlights on a classy car like the skyline.

i guess the difference between people like me and people like you is that you're easy to please. to you, parts are all the same, if they kinda line-up then its all gravy. i have really high standards, i dont fuck around. if something doesnt fit, i dont believe in grabbing a mallet and attempting to make it fit and then reaching for bondo & filler when shit doesnt line up.

this topic is DEAD

R34's and S15's are a rare breed and I would be hurt to see them get seized, but you can pick up a damn skyline for 3000$ or sometimes less here in Canada, they just arnt that special. $6500 for a GTR? Thats what a clean title kouki costs in the states, not that crazy. Just wait, 25 years will roll by and you guys will get them and realize how garbage they really are.

Sad to see this happening tho, regardless of car that's someones hard earned money. Fucking feds.

Underpowered? Yea Nissan underpowered it BUT only on paper because of the 1990's Gentlement aggrement not to exceed 280hp. But Skyline produce 300-320hp STOCK.
I hate it when people shit outta there mouths onto a forum, your just a fanboy who thinks skylines are cool cuz you got an engine from one.

Get your facts straight please, the cabalities of a 2JZ over an RB26 is insane.

V160 can hold like 800+hp, my buddies R32 GTR has popped 3 trannys and 2 transfer cases in 2 summers at 550hp.

There are 2JZ's running stock bottom end's out there pushing over 1000hp, no RB engine could ever dream of going past 600-700 without some MAJOR bottom end work.

I like both cars, but the facts are clear

not to get in the middle of all your guys pissing battles but, could you please show me where to find some specs on a 1000hp stock bottom end 2j?

just wondering cuz i have a few friends working on some and thought that you couldnt go over 550 or so without changing the headgasket and doing some bottomend upgrades.

thanks for any help.

We have R34s and S15s in Canada plated as R32 or even R33, and S15s plated as S13s or S14s. This is just a really shitty deal for people in Cali. Instead of crushing them, they should part them out on Zilvia and give the money back to the people LOL. The Feds are ridiculous for even intervening in such a way. Quebec is the only Province out of the ten Canadian provinces to BAN JDM outright as of last year. But as long as the car is 25 years old, its welcome to be imported. That leaves us with some Land Cruisers, AE86s, and many more of your faves to be imported Legally. Personally I couldnt care for the Illegal JDMs but it is THE MAN showing his power to twist the arms of the non-conformists.

Buddy, Canadians in general or just the one dude who wants Honda headlights on his R32... If you are going to generalize a whole population based on some dudes taste and preference, dont do it here. Many of us Canadians including myself dont appreciate it. Many Americans do more rice out there than its conceivable by us Canooks. I admit to doing a bit of rice myself when I decided to put a S15 front on my coupe. It only stayed on my car for about 48 hours before I went to one of our many local JDM stored in search of a clean S13 Silvia front end nose cut, I know S15 fronts dont look good on a Coupe unless its got a wide body but they belong on S15s, some S14s and some hatch back S13s. To me the S13 Coupe looks riced out with a S15 front, I realized that after spending a lot of money to convert it to S15 only to rip it off and slap the JDM front end meant for that car. Long story short taste and preference should be respected whether American, Indian, Japanese, Canadian or whatever part of the world you may be from. Ancestrally speaking twenty generations back you were not even American, you were probably from some part of Europe. So get off of your high horse because, America didn't exist as we know it and the Indigenous people who suffered the greatest were killed of by surprise Influenza and muskets, raped sacked and pillaged for conquest and land. If anything the governments of Canada and US should be ruled by the Original inhabitants of this land which I believe could care less about R34s being illegally imported. On a final note, respect yourself!!! .

Fuck, you must be Canadian. The only guys stupid enough to talk about installing Accord headlights in a GTST wanna-be GTR have been on the GTR Canada forums. I cant imagine anyone wanting Accord headlights on their Skyline, thats just wrong in every fucking way.

Have you ever read a book? How about Driving Ambition, the book about the McLaren F1? Do you know why they chose center seating? Part of the reason was that they didnt have to have different parts for LHD and RHD vehicles, it would be standardized. Dashboard, everything.. all the same. Cut costs and standardization.

I've cut an entire chassis into pieces, so dont tell me about whether or not I know about unibody construction. I dont claim to be an expert, but I would never say something stupid like "there is infact hardly if at all any difference between a r32 and a s13. " Your words, not mine.

Canadians, honestly. Its a good thing you have knowledgeable S13 owners like Don @ PDM to make your people look good.

If anyone is going to be so ignorant or racist to think that you can lump all of any group of people into one basket on anything, you are full of shit and are just a shitty insecure person.

I am going to gamble that anyone who would talk shit on Canada or it's people , either A don't know any , or B have never been there.

So you should just shut up.

Back on topic, yeah it sucks that people are getting their cars jacked by the feds, but it is just easier to just wait till we can have the cars here legally. Their are plenty of other cars here in the states that are cool enough as it is.
Bitching about the feds wont do any good.

^^ Agree, and just to point out the obvious the more people try to import them before they are 25 years old the closer to an out right ban they are getting. Just freaking wait!!!

I wish I was that lucky, I am a Subaru fanatic at heart and the 22B meets the limited production quota for being importable but its still not allowed. I never thought the Skyline GT-R was all that (Hako the exception) and after modding a 94 WRX and spanking modded GT-R ass all day long I realized unless I am running on the Highway, the GT-R is just another car.

reasons why people should invest into a subaru WRX or STI or RS(swapped)...
you still get to have AWD and be able to boost...
these laws are b/s tho...
can't wait to move out of socal...emissions laws are lame.

use mexican plates I know a couple of people with skylines that can drive them on the road. Insurance costs about 150 a year. I got mexican plates and got pulled over a month ago for a stop sign and just got the ticket no questions asked. I got mexican plates because of a ref ticket I got with my sr and it was dismissed after importing it.

By that time, Skylines are going to be everywhere since EVERYONE will be importing them. I still think even though it will be "legal" to import them that year, our awesome goverment still wont allow it to be imported "legally". I personally dont really see a difference in any car over seas and here. Some of the chassis in the states are made over there. Wouldnt that almost be the exact same as a USDM/JAP made car ? Only exception and difference I see is the glass, and the airbags, IMO i dont really see ANY other difference between the two.

By the time you can import the car so many people will be doing it the car wont be worth near as much as they are now since they will be everywhere. Like in Canada you can get one for 5-8K. In the states the same car will sell for double if not triple if its legal in the states.
