My Premie expired, and I'm not renewing til Zilvia is fast...again(?)
My premie expired and for the first time in like 3 years or something, I'm NOT going to renew it.
Because I don't see my money going towards much. I've honestly never bought anything in the 'hookup' section. The rep system is gone. Hell, I haven't had a working S chassis in over a year, but I still paid for the premie because it felt like it was some what worth it. There's a lot more reasons I could be listing as well, but I don't feel like it. Anyways, I'm not going to dump money into this forum if I don't see some sort of benefit to it. That is all. Anyone with me?!

First it was slow now Im getting page cannot be found 90% of the time. I use to be a premie, only thing I could say was a plus for me was ask Phlip a question thread. Premie fee was worth the entertainment IMO.

That's pretty much the same sentiment I have. Though not as deep, my premise is just that I'll probably reup my premie once it gets faster again.
Hard to pay money to a site I do enjoy, but can't view much due to slow loading. I am aware that the admin and mods are aware of this and working on it, but for now, I'm rockin the black.

All,
In those three years the cost of premium members has not gone up. The purpose of premie members has never been about rep or the hookup. It's good for you to express your concerns as it gives us an opportunity to improve, however I'm not seeing much to work with here. What is it you want out of the premie membership? I'm afraid the rep sys is gone and has been gone for some time, no alternatives that I have reviewed seem worthwhile. Did you happen to see the server we just bought? It will be live in a week or two, I just configured it over the weekend. The page not found issue it new to me, but its something that will be addressed. Today Bob is setting up secondary external DNS. Anyways, offer up some suggestions. We are here to improve! |

Just an update to the page not found issue. It’s not being caused by us, DNS is not resolving because a hub is going up/down. My Verizon wireless card doesn’t work when the Atlanta link is down, but it does work when its up. NetLevel.ru is probably not to blame, but somewhere in their related network lays the problem.
Atlanta, GA, US Failure("Domain lookup failure:zilvia.net Exception:Not_found") NetLevel.ru We are setting up DNS with a secondary DNS server from an external source, so hopefully it will resolve this issue by finding the 2nd source. Anyone who is getting the 404 Page not found errors. After the 404 shows up, Click Start > Run > type cmd and hit OK > type in: ping zilvia.net Most likely it will not resolve, this is because the issue described above. |

Wow, check out Mr. West going the extra mile to track this problem down.
Awesome stuff Mark.

It's just a case of willing to donate to the site as long as we see some improvement and some small enjoyments out of it. I haven't renewed my premie for partly that reason, but mostly it's just because I don't use Zilvia often enough anymore. But I'll probably renew soon... I've been black over a year now. The site has been slow lately. I have not had issue with the "page not found" thing however. Just an opinion from someone else who was also a premie "back in the day" haha

Ive had the page not found a couple times in the last few hours!!
And as far as the hook up section--- This forum is a hook up on its own., Consider all of the free knowledge you get when you have a problem, and the hella cheap stuff available!! the stuff Ive bought outside the hook up* was a hookup on its own considering the price.. Rock on zilvia!

I have high speed internet. The forum should work, AT LEAST. Especially if I'm putting money into this thing. I know I'm not paying a lot, but this used to be free and work perfectly fine. It has become SLOWER AND SLOWER over time. I don't want to pay you guys to browse a slow ass site. That is all. This place is great to hang out and I've learned a lot here. But browsing as of late has become painfully slow and a large waste of my time reloading pages over and over again has becoming redundant. All I want as a premie is the premie section and a good connection to a forum I'll probably frequent til I die, or the world is overtaken by zombies.

Whomever, Paying or not, is a valuable part of the community. If you noticed it started to slow down about 2-3 month ago, which resulted in us purchasing a new server to replace the two year old server that cost $8k, we didn't get much use out that server considering it it lasted a little over two year (about $300/mo over the haul). Generally we like some return on a server investment, ideally it stays in place for 3.5 years. Zilvia runs on 4 servers in case you are curious, changes just don't happen overnight but we try to address critical concerns such as speed as soon as possible. As I said in my previous post, we are addressing the issue, speeds have already improved and they will improve even more shorty. |

Sweeeet. Looking forward to two weeks from now. Sucks to see that you didn't get enough use out of the older servers. Only a few people will understand what you are doing Mark. Keep up the good work!

How about you make your car less ugly and shut the fuck up. He asked me what it would take for me to renew my premie and I told him. I don't want West to do anything but make this piece of shit faster. It's been slow for well over a year now on my side. I never said being premie wasn't worth it to me. And the only thing I can think of to make the forum better is make it faster. And maybe get rid of stupid asses with no style, and that own ugly cars. (Is there a reason you stopped posting pics of your car? Or stopped updating your build thread?) I would too if my car looked like yours does. I'm pretty sure I've been paying for Premie longer than your bitch ass. Don't come in my thread throwing bricks.

.............wait... Where does his car come into this?
Digressing back to your first post. You do not agree that paying/renewing your membership would encourage or move progress along? Not renewing your membership just slows it down (In this case, buying another server that potentially costs $8k, if not, more.)... I paid $20 for two years, a year ago. (I understand $20 from me personally isn't anything, but from many members at once, it makes a good chunk.) |

That's why he's got this personal bone to pick when it comes to me making a post. If he wants to come at me with that bullshit (name calling etc.) then I'll sink down to his level as well. I'll fucking drop kick a barking dog. Anyways, Why should I continue to pay for the website, when it works like half the time? "Fool me once..." I've waited well over half a decade for the forum to get better, and really it's only gotten worse. Most of it cannot be blamed on by the owners or moderators. But this issue can be. If anything this post and thread is just me vocalizing my disdain for coming to the forum only to be frustrated by the slow loading times. I know that sometimes it takes a push to get things going and it seems like they're already on it. Which is why I didn't respond to West. I don't really give a shit about any bells and whistles for vB board add ons. The content and SMART members of the forum are more than enough to keep me coming back. I'll always have a love for S chassis deep down inside, and it's cool to watch the trends, see new stuff coming out, and keep a personal blog in my head of what cool stuff people are doing with their cars.

lol wait.....wut?
Actually what does my car have to with it? Hell you don't even own a running S chassis anymore....I don't even remember who gave me what rep negative or otherwise and could care less. As far as the posting pics thing, my car has looked the same for....shit....3.5 years now? I've owned it for 6 years and dont find it necessary to post pics of it because well nothing has changed on it so there's no need to post the same pic 500 times. And frankly I like my car the way it is and it makes a great lawn ornament so thats where it will stay while I put the other engine I have for it back together and play with my other 2 cars. your first post says "I don't see my money going towards much". To me that's the same as saying its not worth it. Just saying. I wasn't trying to "throw bricks" as you so eloquently put it, and I apologize if I came off too harsh and bruised your e-peen.

I will say, Scott, that you are coming off as rather arrogant and overly demanding when you come out of the box with ultimatums.
"I'm not going to dump money into this forum unless I see benefits" Ok, fine. If you don't think you're seeing any benefit from it, don't renew. I mean, we appreciate the contributions you have made up until now, but frankly, we're not here to cater to you and your demands. I think I understand what you are trying to convey, but your attitude makes it hard to really care what your point is. You're coming off like a spoiled little brat, "If I can't have it my way, than I'm not going to be your friend anymore!" Whatever man. If you stick around, cool. If you leave, oh well. Thanks for coming out.

Just like how Toyota would've not done anything if the people weren't complaining about sticky throttle. Nothing wrong with voicing opinion. Yes, WEST is working on this issue, and he even asked what all was wrong. Matter of fact, he found out about the DNS issue from this thread, so that helped one thing at least. So in theory his, "bitching" helped at least get that issue known. As for, 'wasting your time', nobody told you to open this thread, and even more so, nobody told you to write a diatribe on your feelings. Do I enjoy zilvia, yes. Do I enjoy how fast it is, no. Just because this dislike is voiced is no reason to say, "we don't care if you come back". Quite poor taste imo.

I'm not saying I don't care if you guys don't come back. Just stating that if you chose to move on, so be it.
I understand the problems you are facing with Zilvia, I'm getting them too. I just don't feel the need to try and Threaten Mark with "not dumping money into Zilvia" just because it has slowed down a bit in recent times. We are constantly getting new members, and the site is constantly growing. The more it grows, the more server space it eats up, at a faster rate. The previous servers, that we could afford at the time, are taxed at this point. So West is striving to get them replaced, ahead of the previous schedule. It's not a magic wand that anyone can wave and suddenly everything is fixed. It takes time. Zilvia isn't anyone's full time job either. We all have bigger priorities in our lives to deal with, from work to families. But we don't forget about Zilvia. We each donate part of our time, day in and day out to keep this site running to the best of our abilities. For myself and the other Moderators and Super Moderators, that means maintaining the peace and trying to keep the clutter to a minimum. For Administrators, it means dealing with bitchy advertisers, tweaking the servers, reviewing new members, contacting ISPs for repeated attacks by Banned members, updating the Spam software, etc, etc, etc. Unfortunately, that means somethings can go overlooked at times. The effort is being made, and we ask for your patience. But honestly, idle threats are not going to get you anywhere. We like our members, we would like to keep our members. But walk in to my living room and tell me that if the bathroom door sticks you're never coming back, and I'll gladly show you the way back out. There is no need to be discourteous towards Mark or Zilvia.

I also believe this issue is alittle bit different then Toyota, in alot of Ways. Since Toyota KNEW the exsisting problem and did nothing about it. West Started a thread explaining the problem " http://zilvia.net/f/news-announcemen...-defeated.html " Under the News and Annoucncements Section. He also explained about the Server and Ordering it. FalKon - In the mix of everythign you wrote, You do have a point, BUT having said that:
It would be easier just to explain your problem in a decent manner and let's fix the problem.. Every Member is an Important Part of Zilvia, including you. Mr. West - I don't know if I can be much help, but let me know if I can do anything ( have a few friends in the computer parts business ) and Sir, you are doing a excellent job and tracking down the problem. Your Effort's are appreciated. Thank You! ~D.n.D |
