Lemons car help

So we are picking up an already setup 240sx lemons car that has a rod knock in the KA24E. We are all capable mechanics but none of us have dealt with the s13 platform before. The biggest question is should we just rebuild this motor? Swap in another 4cyl? Go big with an LS swap? Motor budget is about $1500. Little more information- the head has been redone already and is in great condition and the 5spd has been recently professionally rebuilt.

Not being Silvia guys there is an intimidating about of information to sift through so I'm hoping to get everyone's expertise on this.

you can usually find another single cam for less than $3-400, i'd go that route.
run higher octane fuel and advance the timing and send it.

Would this bolt to the stock transmission or is there an adapter? Would make a neat little swap

I mean its a 4cyl, so physically it will fit, but
1: WHY
2: it will be way expensive to make custom mounts, wiring harness, find radiator hoses that will work, custom transmission adapter, all for a very low power engine
3: WHY???

Because it's a ka24e exactly like the one I have in the car and I only need the short block. That's why. Trying to find out if it is the same block since the stanza was fwd.

Offer only?

bent valves. Short block should be fine.
