I think usually cheaper.
You can sell it if you want.
Put it in a new car if you crash the old one.
You get the name brand so you can add to your mod-list.

the list goes on and on.

Plus, the bolt in cages come painted. Much better than the dudes who get custom cages and leave it rusting away. ugh.

YAY for bolt in roll bars!

All is well until the tire wall shows up....

Granted this wasnt a full cage like some of the ones pictured here. Please note that no matter what bolt in you buy, there needs to be extra support at the base!! Notice in the pictures above that the bolt plate went right through the metal. Either way I just dont know if I trust my life to bolt in cages no matter how "cool" they look or "ease of installation" or that you can take them out and put them in another car.

p.s. Both driver and passenger escaped unharmed.

just curious about reinforcing the base. do you basically add more metal/structure on the floor where the cage bolts onto? does anybody have pictures of this reinforcement?

In the picture where the roll bar tubing penetrated the floor boor probably would have happened even with a weld in cage. Even if you would have put on 1/4" steel plate than welded the bar onto it Im still pretty confident that weak unibody flooring would fail with all of the force of the roll over.
