discuss your short shifters!!

Forgive me if this is a repost, I did a quick search and didn't see any recent threads on this. This isn't a question thread, this is me asking you guys your opinions on what's in your car.

What Short throw shifters do you have in your car? B&M seems to be the most popular. I've seen some eBay ones and I saw that Megan Racing makes one.

Can anyone with an actual B&M elaborate as to what makes them so good? To anyone else with other brand short shifters, please post what you have and your opinion on it! How short is the throw?

I'm getting a Z31 within the next few days and it seems my only option for a lot of things are to buy S13 parts and modify them and/or fabricate adapters to make them work with the Z haha.

If there is already an SS discussion thread, my apologies and please link me to it

i had a megan.. worst crap ever. rattle like crazy and idk it didn't feel right.
Then i man up and got a B&M, one of best $200 and some change i spent on my car.

Anyways the B&M doesn't rattle and it's nice and tight . Also i had it for about a year or so now too and still feels the way it did new.

Yeah, I've been reading individual SSK threads. Some have said the ISIS rattles too after a certain point. I would believe it had to do with something not being screwed tight enough. If it still rattles under certain rare situations like high rpm at high speed, I would think any of them would do that. Also hear that ISIS and B&M feel the same once installed.

Found the solution to the rattling in this thread: short-shift prep thread

I had a B&M in my old S14 in 2003, and have a Deluboz one in my current S13 from when they were still on Ebay. Daily drove on it from March 2007 until this past July when I got another daily without issue.
My B&M was one of the early ones that rattled like fuck, and so does my current, so really the only difference was having paid a third of the price and the color.

I have the Isis one and I have no complaints what so ever. My brother had the B&M and it also rattled at higher RPM's switched to Isis as well and has had no more issues with rattling.

I'm using a Tomei with a cusco shifter bushing. Very precise and has the perfect throw imo. I think C's short shifter is very similar in design. Drove a friends car with a B&M, nice but too notchy and too short of a throw for me.

I have a CS as well, OEM bushing and no rattles. Best $70 I've spent.

Is getting a short shifter really worth it? I'm always contemplating of getting one, can you really feel the difference from the OEM one? Thanks for any opinions ahead of time.

This guy speaks mad truth. I hate driving people's cars who don't have one, it feels so awkward. Anyway, I have a Circuit sports and I love it. Its got a nice throw and its quite short. It does rattle while highway driving, but it never used to till I took it on an 8 hour drive.

i have one in my s13 and it feels great (no rattles). i think it does give the feel of a newer car cause my friends s14 doesn't have one and like everyone else said it feels sloppy and old.
mine is some ebay special that was given to me by a friend. it says nismo by i highly doubt it.

My isis rattles on the track constantly -.-
I also installed a solid shifter bushing on it beforehand...what a waste..
Gonna guess it fell off, and when I'm not being lazy, I'll pull the shifter out and put it back on, lol.

shifter

I used to have a B&M shifter on my car. It does rattle;especially, at high rpm. Now I have a HKS short shifter. I will say the best that I've seen so far: very precise,no rattle and it makes you feel like you're driving a real race car. I love it.

i bought the cheapest one i could find on ebay.

i think i payed about $25 shipped.

it is c's garage style, i added an oem shifter bushing and put a flat rubber washer in between the two pieces to dampen rattle.

i've been using it for more than two years, no complaints or regrets.

B&M with twm 16 oz. weight shifter. no rattles until about 5500 rpm daily driven, shifts like butter. no slop whatsoever. had C's style shifter before and the B&M is a different world of precise shifting.

Same story for me. Never had an issue with my B&M, but I do like the Tomei better. Sort of falls between stock and B&M.
