Can someone here help me out, my power steering bracket on my ca is completely striped, dumbass that put it in before me -__- and I keep loosing belts cause the whole pump can flex on the bracket, so is there another bracket/tensioner setup that's useable?

You could move the pump to a lower position.
Either make a modified bracket out of the old one or buy/weld a new.
I cut and modified mine to fit it where the AC-pump used to sit.

I used a 1995 honda accord EX one. The engine was the F22 single cam vtec. Should be plenty in a junk yard near you I can even run out to my wife's and snag a picture of where it's located for you if need be.

Get nismo ones, best you could get. The tranny mount is the same for SR20/CA . Engine ones are not the same, so make sure you get the CA18DET ones or you will end up with a misaligned tranny mount.

CA CA18DET A/C Compressor

Hi Everyone,

I am rebuilding my CA engine after blowing the piston rings, I know this is not on many people's lists when doing their rebuilds but seeing as this is a daily driver I want air conditioning. My current AC compressor is K.I.A (Seized bearings I think..) and I am not able to get a new replacement through Nissan Japan. Anyone have a working unit laying around for sale?

I have read that you can use the KA SOHC compressor with the CA pully, clutch and custom bearings... But the threads are so old and there really is not much for proof to go on. Has anyone done this? or how has anyone else fixed their AC issues?

Thanks for you help,

I have a wiring specialties harness, thought it was going to be 10x better than the old brittle stock harness but ended up finding out a few negative things about it. The knock sensor plug is the wrong size and is missing pin #8. This happens to be the switched ground for the butterfly valves and made the car pretty laggy. Wiring specialties is the only company out there making a replacent harness for the ca18 so I'm not here to bash on them but to let wiring specialties/other enthusiasts know about the issue and hopefully they will make an updated version in the near future.

Hey, with all of the harnesses we have sold this is the first time we have heard about the knock sensor issue happening. Any chance you can post a photo of it so we can see the issue? or even email it over so we can talk. It seems to be very odd and we would love to take care of it. As for the butterfly valves I am sorry to hear that, feel free to email or call us so we can assist and take care of any issues/problems you might have so you are 100% satisfied

Maybe I'm over looking it but I'm not seeing a forsure answer. Will the 88 pulsar throttle position sensor work on the JDM ca18det?

Ca18det FAQ

So my brother and I import cars and I decided to buy an s13 Silvia vert k series. The problem with the car is that the engine is misfiring. I just changed the spark plugs (I used the ngk cooper spark plugs) and I also changed the oil. Before changing the oil after putting in the new spark plugs the car was literally bone dry. The car would stay at about 500rpm but once I changed the oil (I used valvoline premium 10w30) the car stayed around 600-800rpm. It runs a little better now that I gave it a bit of maintenance but I'm still having trouble trying to figure out what is making it stay below 1000rpm. Any suggestions?

Check ECU maintenance codes, it should help. If there still is the HSS, remove it, it is known to cause problems. Clean the idle valve too, and check you don't have vacuum/boost leaks. That last one is easily the cause of 90% of the problems on this engine.

Thanks for replying. I actually got rid of the knock sensor plug that didn't fit. It was too small for the knock sensor so I chopped the one off of my oem harness and soldered in. I will message you some photos of the pin on the ecu that's missing cus it's a real bummer for anyone trying to run the butterfly valve system like myself.

I have been told a KA24DE alternator with brackets and power steering pump with brackets will bolt right up to CA18DET, can anyone elaborate if this is true or not?
Was given an RB20DET PS pump when I bought the car, it does NOT work with CA18DET, HICAS or not.

They will ALMOST bolt right up. Slight modification will be needed, but nothing major.

Sweet, I figured as much, thanks a lot. I will be buying a spare CA head and a CA power steering pump this weekend so if the new one shits out on me again, I'll just use the KA pump. Thanks!

I do not know if this has already been stated, but q45 ignitors will work on ca18det. You just use one obviously, since they are v8 they essentially are like 2 CA's thrown together lol and have 2 ignitors for each side. Have to use the earlier years, the later years are the sr20 style ignitors. I don't know how many people are still rocking CA in 2015 but figured I'd put this out here.
