Thanks guys, every little bit we get will help. Atlanta has been trying to prosper in drifting, but with courses closing and now this, it is hard to do so. Last time I check we had over 3000 people signing the petition and it continues to grow. I will do my best to keep you all updated.

Mr Shook,

I wasn't going to contact anyone over this issue until I read this reply that you wrote. Assuming that someone profits from drifting only shows your ignorance in the matter and your inability to go and do your own research. To say that it deprives someone of their home enjoyment is simply asinine. Maybe you should realize that the only people profiting from these events are local businesses and hotels, local safety personnel who are paid to be there by the event revenue, and the operators of the parking lots. All local people and businesses. I wish people in Atlanta elected competent individuals to make informed decisions on matters such as this, but unfortunately they elected you. No wonder the schools there have to cheat to make AYP.

Sincerely
William Slaughter
Citizen of Georgia

P.S. The correct term is drifting. The word 'racing' implies there is a winner based on speed, not style.
As much as I enjoyed reading that, I do not think that these kind of responses to the people making decisions will help the cause. Insulting the man will only make things worse.

Thank you for emailing me about the benefits of drift racing. I wouldn’t want this going on in my neighborhood and I can’t see how anyone else would either, leaving me to assume that you profit from this activity. That’s fine as long as residents aren’t deprived of the peaceful enjoyment of their homes. There are many activities that aren’t permitted adjacent to residential areas and it’s clear to me that this should be one of them.

He 99% won't read it anyway. The email he is sending out is the same to every reply. I really just did it to see what template email he will send to me. I used no profanity, and made sure to be professional in my insults.

I was thinking the same thing. Just because he don't approve of the drifting at Turner Field doesn't mean that the other members of the city council and mayor feel the same way. There are a number of factors that will be taken into play before they make things final.

Responding to the email I posted in a negative way is not gonna help the matter.

I sent my first email based on the EXACT wording that was contained in the documents tab on the Facebook group page for the matter.

I also received another email from a city council member that was different in response than Mr. Shooks response.

Here is her response.

Thank you for sharing your concerns with me. I will consider your comments, if the legislation is returned to Council by a Veto of the Mayor.

Felicia Moore
Atlanta City Council, District 9
(404)330-6044 office
(404)658-7966 fax

I sent the same email to all city council members, along with signing the petition. I feel that emailing council members personally with help make a dramatic effect, on there decision.

It really doesnt matter how "professional" your insult was, its still an insult. All that will do is piss the man off. Not a way to gain favor with the people deciding the fate of turner field drift events. That is all im going to say on that matter because I do not want to start an arguement.

Bump bump. The petition has over 5 thousand signatures, but we can do better!

If you haven't already signed it, please do. It only takes a few seconds to help out a major cause.

Hell I don't even live in Georgia nor have I ever been there. But I'm doing my part for my fellow broski's.

check out Spa Francorchamps
Bring the Noise: Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps reportedly safe... for now

Track opened up in the 20s.. and just a few years ago started issues with noise from local residents lol
Quote:
The longtime host of the Belgian Grand Prix looked to be in serious trouble with local authorities when nearby residents got fed up with the noise emanating from the track. Government officials threatened to shut down the circuit if the situation wasn't addressed, but now they appear to be singing a different tune.

According to the latest reports, the regional environment ministry has given Spa an exemption from noise regulations in light of the economic benefits the Belgian Grand Prix brings to the region. There are a few conditions, though. First of all, while they're willing to overlook the noise issue for the F1 race (and possibly a few other events), authorities will crack down at other times, even shutting down the track completely during parts of the summer. Beyond that, they've appointed a third party to monitor the noise levels, warning the track owners that their exemption will be up for review again within two years. So, while race organizers and fans can breathe a sigh of relief, it'll be a short breath, proving once again that racing and bureaucrats don't mix.

Thanks for the support guys! Hopefully the bill will get vetoed so it doesn't disturb the events. Will be leaving tomorrow I think for Formula D, then the event at Turner Field on Sunday.

Wait a second. What did they actually ban? Drift racing or Drifting? Anyone have a link to the actual law passed?

Lets lawyer this bitch up, we'll have Atlanta 'power over-steering' in no time.

edit: fvck, never mind, saw the drifted link, they were pretty specific. Looks like you gotta troll autoX for now until they get banned too.
