Unhappy KA24E Problems

Hi, I just bought a 1990 240sx. On my way home the car started sputtering and backfiring. We noticed that the o2 sensor was not in the header and it was burnt a little. the car would only act up at 2-3000 RPM. Would this be a timing issue? Please help me out I'm new to the 240 world.

Not a 240 issue, but an engine one universal to all car owners. There is nothing special about 240 engines for their given types.

When you drive the car do you give it gas and it feels like it doesnt want to accelerate??? Does it not want to go over 40 mph?
