s13 S13 Gas tank baffle/fuel bowl broken

The fuel bowl in my hatch gas tank has broken off the 4 spot weld points. would it be ok to remove it until i can find another gas tank. Baffle is still good. Noticed this as i was replacing the fuel pump for a first start up.

Yes you can remove it, but youll exprience fuel slosh effects on low gas levels.

Options.....
-Replace gastank
-Have a true capable gas tank repair re welded it into.place(EXTREMLY DANGEROUS IF NOT DONE PROPERLY)
-run a fuel cell setup

That bowl is technically a baffle to keep furl sloshing as well. No hard cornering and it should be fine. But you need to get it repaired

Thanks for the info, most likely will get a new tank once the engine is running and tuned. I doubt i can get the bowl out in one piece. I'll just make sure its always filled to the top till then.

I removed my baffle entirely, so that I can run a holley fuel mat

BUT, if you're interested in a good condition s13 fuel tank, message me.
I've got one in Torrance.

I run this one,

https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...s/parts/16-111

since its the only type to have a press on style attachment, like the oem fuel filter sock.

I did not modify the return plumbing at all.

Isn't the hydramat supposed to lay on the bottom of the fuel tank? I figured if you just attach it to the pump in place of the regular filter sock it could still get surge at lower fuel levels.

you should probably get an X hydromat....

Its basically a big sponge in a sock. Any part of the mat touching fuel should have enough fuel....

The long way may get surge.

yes from my understanding it should be on the floor of the tank, and affixed with magnets. i was looking at the cross hydramat and get a 3an line and run the other end to the pump barb fitting. you're suppose to plumb the return to dump directly on the mat for maximum scavenging but ill probably skip that.

yes, but the solution to that is either
-don't run lower fuel levels,
-don't run lower fuel levels
or
-don't run lower fuel levels.

like I said, the only one they have available with a oem style attachment, was the one I ordered. if they had other x-style offerings, I prob would have gone that route. I'm going to be using magnets at the ends to keep it as low in the tank as possible.

right, but this is way cheaper, and simpler, and same result, constant fuel delivery.
