I'm running in the CADL (in Montreal). I got a Snell M2000 Motorcycle helmet to start. Once I learn more about Auto-x and helmets, I'll get a better one.

How many people usually show up for the events?

You got the list of stuff to take with you?

tools, water, snacks, a folding chair's good if you get lots of time between runs, sunscreen, rain gear, some rags and glass cleaner to wipe off your numbers at the end of the day...

It sounds like overkill, but it never hurts to be prepared - considering you're going to spend a whole day standing outside in unpredictable weather.

Thanks a lot guys.

My first event day is limited to 60 people. So I guess 40 people is a normal number...

It's a class on how to drive, getting the right lines, etc.

The next day is the first "event" of the year. We only get 8 events this year. I can't hardly wait. I'm all excited.. I'll share pictures and thoughts after each event.

the most important things I make sure I have:

1. SUNSCREEN!!
2. Water - LOTS.. you CANNOT drink enough water (and snacks if you wish)
3. shoe polish for numbers and class
4. Chair
5. Rain gear

when you get a bit more serious and want to make life easier..

Tools
Air tank
Chalk
EZ up tent (u make friends fast with one of these.. lol)
10x10 tarp
Magnetic number w/ class
GOOD tire pressure gauge (like a liquid filled that reads to the 1/2 or 1/4 lb)
Seperate set of wheels with R-compounds

Also...

Hat: provides a backup for the sunscreen when you forget to reapply it after lunch.

Cooler with ice: because warm bottled water/soda/whatever sucks.

Bag/box/container: to hold the small loose items you remove from the car.

Baby wipes: if it's a hot nasty day, or you're working on hot nasty cars, you'll wish you had 'em.

Camera: to show us the cool cars in attendance, before & after shots of your tires, and the beautiful patterns of rubber on the pavement at the end of the day.

Zip ties and duct tape: so you can hold things together long enough to limp to the auto parts store if something goes kerpop, or to make friends who need to borrow some automotive Band-Aids.

im getting to the point where i go to the track enough (yes im addicted)

2 extra wheels
and spare parts (from upgrade parts)

more helpful if you are on open track event (courses) because if you drop a wheel or something goes wrong, getting stranded a few hours from home really blows

further i go, more i'll bring.
soon my tie rods get replaced but its good to keep a spare w/ you at the track as well as a few suspension goodies.

also make sure you get some friends to go (preferebly w/ the same type of car) for extra security and backup

if its a long day, bring a small BBQ and some goodies for it.

i also high suggest a floor jack and 2 jack stands for any unexpected incidents.

Tnord and I put this together a while back...
I figure I'll post it up here for you all before I leave.

It's not quite a complete list but close, mostly geared towards track days but works for auto-x too...

Clothing/what to wear: on and off track
*Jeans
*closed toe shoes
*Long-Sleeve Shirt
*Gloves (optional)
*Balaclava (optional)
*Helmet (loaner helmets available at most events, ask before going!)
*change of cloths
*rain gear
*mech gloves (stuff gets hot)
*hat

For your car:
*Any tape of contrasting color (duct, masking, racers, etc...)
*wax/applicator (pad or cloth)
*shoe pollosh (applicator bottle type)

Tools/spare parts you should bring:
*tire pressure guage
*Jack & stands
*Spare Oil
*Spare brake parts if you have them (pads, rotors, fluid, brake cleaner)
*All tools needed to: jack car, remove wheels, change brakes
*torque wrench to torque your lugnuts
*blocks to keep the car from rolling (you can't use your e-brake after a session or you'll warp your rotors)
*Small Compressor (auto-x only, tracks will usually have a tank somewhere near the tech shed)
*glass cleaner
*random rags/paper towels
*zip ties
*screw drivers
*other basic tools (hose clamps, vice grips, other size ratchets and wrenches)

Optional stuff to make the weekend more enjoyable:
*cooler/drinks/food
*cash
*chairs
*tarp (or towel or your cars floor mats)
*table
*suntan lotion
*shade canopy
*camera
*stopwatch (get other peoples times/get them to time you)
*cell phone (put a nearby dealers number in there)

ok i go to open track events at streets of willow, buttonwillow and soon thunderhill and laguna seca

so....advice for thos who go to tracks not parking lots because its MORE likely to happen at a track but its still VERY likely at a parking lot/autox etc type setup.

bring a extra inner tie rod!!!

my good friend just bent his yesterday at the track yesterday!!!

now that's 3 people i know who have w/in the past few months. yes, all drifting, but if you goof good at the track and drop a wheel, it's bye bye tie rod!!

a extra inner tierod is ONLY 30 dollars at like a pep boys/autozone
great for backup and emergency. takes about 15 mins to swap out!!!

just FYI
or order the Tein hard tie rods and endlinks (inner rods-both are 80 retail and outer-must get outter too, wont fit stock-are 80 retail for the pair)
be safe!
