hey guys, one of your friends (240impakt) told me I should come to this site and ask YOU guys to help me out with his. he said that he did this swap on his 240. he said to not expect a $2500 engine to run like a $5000 engine, and he had to replace his throttle body with cables and a wiring harness...should I just go ahead and buy these parts and change them while I'm in there? or should I find out how it goes first? Haven't done the swap yet, but expect to about 6 months to a year after I get my 240 (95+ model)...so what do you guys think? Should I pop some other mods under the hood while I'm there? Any input would be highly appreciated...

Save your money for the SR20DET. No since in upgrading unless you want to do brakes and suspension.

What parts are you trying to change? and why?

the SR20DET is the best swap engine right? well for street use anyways...or is there another engine I can swap in there for better performance? I want to be safe not to over-power it...well tha'ts a bad thing, but you catch my drift....

Cost wise, yes the SR20DET is the best. You have a choice of the smaller 1.8 CA18DET, but there is not much potential for it. If your Money then you can get a old Skyline RB20DET and put it in there but it would cost ALOT of money and so would the mods. You always have the option of putting a Turbo on your KA24DE motor. That what I have and it kicks ass but its a bigger headache and will cost you more in the end for a engine with higher miles. So SR20DET it is.

did anybody check out last months issue of turbo? there is a guy with a black s14 that kept the 2.4l, he put a turbo kit (as well as many other things) he is getting like 365hp. i was thinking of the engine swap but after that article i am reconsidering. besides doesn't our 2.4 crank out more tourqe at lower rpms?

Have you seen my car? Click on my name below. You wont get that much power from just the swap, more like 240-250rwhp. I am pushing about 310rwhp but I have forged pistons. I plan to build up my motor so I can soon enough have 400+rwhp I like the KA24DET just because its rare and its got TORQUE

so about how much do u have in to your motor. i also have been planning to get a 95+ 240 and plan on a s14 sr and new internals. sense modding my NA Z is too much for too little and i really want a super street sleeper. but im still unsure if i should mod the ka or not.

HaloZ from tt.net! Whats up! Being a old 93 300ZX 2+2 Stage IV+ Z owner I know first hand about both cars and understand how you would want a Turbo 240. They are dope.

Its more cost effective to do a SR swap and buy a nice looking s14 with high miles. But for me I love Torque, and im sure you do too as your a Z owner, so I chose to Turbo the KA. Getting a Turbo kit for the KA is not too bad cost wise these days.

In my motor all I have is Forged Factory Pistons. So I can run a little more boost than normal but not much. You can run about 10-11psi off a s14 DOHC KA engine. This should net you about 250-280rwhp. So enough to kick some serious ass.

The whole SR vs. KA is a huge discussion but it comes down to what car your putting it in and personal preference. For me, thats the KA.

do u know what the compression ratio is on those pistion. the way i drive i think i better build some thing that put up with my WOT habbits. and im thinking mad high boost. so im most likely going to a safe 8.5/1 - 8.2/1 compression.i would really like killer lowend but still have high top end.

i know there is a lot of SR DET suppost from JUN and others. and rumers of a squenchal(SP) turbo set up to give extended/wide range of boost over the RPM range. mainly i want to slap the SH*T out of local stanges and Z28's. there are a few s14 in Atl thatare under 5-6k. and get a decent s13-14 sr (2-3k) and rebuild it total/ (2-3k in parts, doing to myself and my friend) and all around turbo (1kish). OR redo the KA and i hear there are AfterMarket cranks that with forged pieces help in getting a higher PRM range. but with still having a good tourq curve. but i don' t know there are some sweet s13/14 in Atl. Mr Idetail has a mean one. ok ok im rambling.

what i ment to ask, How is the AM suppost for the KA compared to the SR? that's what it's going to boil down to. thanx for the input. i need review HT.com and the rest of the turbos site and review the sr vs ka story.

nice clean sight too. ttl Ric
