apologies bois, i guess i meant fair as in it's not leaking and definitely runs fine, but i do hear a little rattle which a shop attributed to my timing chain. it's in my car rn, but i have a few guys interested in the engine with the details I listed about the engine (compression numbers, leakdown, and timing chain rattle which may be the top guide but i havent pulled cover to see)

Does the OEM s13 hatch power antenna have 2 height settings - mid height & full height?
Mine's currently going to mid height only but does not have a factory head unit. TIA

Anyone have a good resource/crash course thread on learning the inner workings of an SR head? I've rebuilt like 10 KA's by now but they are really the only engine I have indepth experience with other than waterboxers. Cam on bucket seems way simpler than rocker arms, lifters, etc. I feel like a noob asking but I've never had my hands on one and want to change that.

Or go with dual guide shim setup. WPC treat everything in the head. If u wanna go high flow, high hp, ditch the det head and go vet Motive garage on youtube has documented the conversion very well, mazworx aswell. |

Its not hard, look at pic of the head.. cam lobe pushes on a Y Rocker arm.. rear of the arm is the piviot spot, hydraulic lifter. The feet of the rocker sit atop the valve stem. When the lob pressn on the rocker arm it applys pressure to the valves causing them to open. |

It seems like the lifter is just there as something for the other side of the rocker arm to rest on, and keep it straight. In layman's terms with respect to the valve, the cam "pushes it down", the valve spring "pushes it back up", and the lifter just kinda chills and goes along for the ride on the other side, with no "fulcrum"? what movement does it enact? |

The lifter is there to act as a pivot spot..the rocker arm has to "rock" move. Also since its a hydraulic lifter it adjust/takes up free space/valve lash diffrences.
It is a fulcrum... not in the middle but at one end. |

Hey guys, are 55w HID ballasts safe in the zenki headlight housing? I've found people running 55w in s14 kouki projector headlights, but wondering about zenki housings, wondering if they would melt.
And yes, I do understand how the light output will be in non-projector lights. this is for an off road application |

It's like putting more and more bandaids over an infected wound, instead of removing them all and disinfecting it. If systemic staph sounds fun to you, get into those motors. |

^^^^I didn't even know I wanted an answer to that but thanks for the info.
Aight Zilvia, help a mod out. Later this year when my bonus comes I am getting a notchtop SR rebuilt (bought with a spun bearing) assuming the crank is good and only needs a polish this is my build list for the shop. The plans for the car are street machine, maaaaaybbbbeeee a track day at Road Atlanta or run through the dragon's tail. No drifting ever. The theme of this build is reliability not top power. The oem build includes arp headstuds acl bearings and oem timing per the shop. S14 SR with stock Turbo CP Pistons <- stock compression or boost to 9:1? Stock Rods <- again not going for more than 380hp at the tippy top, ok for stock or upgrade? Whatever headgasket the shop recommends Greddy oil pan Stock head <-- considering tomei 264 cams here, want to retain VTC 555cc injectors<--decided to get these z32 maf stock turbo <--later on down the road would upgrade to GT2871r Enthalpy tune for the NA ecu I have do i need a fuel pressure regulator? going with walbro 255ph fuel pump Thoughts? questions? I am pre-buying some parts so I want to get some feedback on the items I am not sure about. I stress again this is not a "I need 400hp" sr build. This is a " I want to drive this car without worrying about it breaking" build.

Whats the 2020 consensus on lower-HP (<400whp) fuel pumps? Obviously the walbro 255 has been the standard for years, but they still have mixed reviews and I just leaned out my 3rd engine and honestly think it can't be anything else besides it failing under load at this point.
Looks like Tomei and Sard have 255lph option (Sard is 265), and as long as you order from Tomei Japan, I'd trust that both of those units are high quality. Then there's the Deastchwerks DW250, and I'm sure a few other (AEM? Aeromotive? Idk) domestic brands with something decent. |

I've been running the Aeromotive Stealth 340 in my cars with no issues. Just gotta make sure you buy through an authorized dealer or else you might end up with some knockoff junk (same goes for walbro).

What are my options for S14 SR20 Ignitor Chips? OEM is like 300$ plus the rights to my first born, and then theres ISR OE for $80. Any one have alternative options or experience running the ISR one?
