wierd z32 brake problem

I am having some trouble with my 300zx front brakes. the rotor is scraping on the inside of the caliper. almost as if i'm missing a spacer or something. how do i tell what kind of calipers i have? 30 or 26mm? if i have the wrong rotor that will cause scraping/rubbing problems right? what's wierd is i drove on these b4 and when i put them on a different s13 they were off. i took pics but they're not that great.

it appears that you have the 30MM rotors with a 26MM caliper. I went through the same thing with mine when autozone ordered 2 different calipers. Once scraped the other one didn't. After looking up part #'s I came to the conclusion that they sold me (1) 26MM and (1) 30MM caliper. Either get bigger calipers or smaller rotors.

did your 30 mm rotors scrape at the same place? so i do have the 26mm caliper. what is the difference between 26 and 30 so i can make sure i have 26mm calipers and order the right rotors

also which year is the 26mm rotor/caliper. 3/89-6/90 300zx?

yes my 30MM rotors scraped at the same place with the 26MM calipers. I replaced the caliper and the scraping went away. Visually I believe the calipers are the same, except you can tell the difference between the iron and the aluminum ones.

Heres a site with A LOT of info on it, and it will tell you which years, which calipers came in 26MM, 30MM, aluminum and iron.

The 30mm rotor is 30mm in width (1.181"). The rotor you have is a seriously worn down 30mm rotor, or one that was turned down too much.... or it could possibly even be a Q45 rotor (28mm width, but same O.D. as the 300ZX rotor).

yes i did the math and 26mm = 1.02 inches. and my measure ment on the rotors is clearly over that. so it is a really worn down 30mm rotor. i think the previous owner got 30m rotors and jsut had them machined down to clear and/or used a spacer. and now when i try to bolt everything up like it's supposed to be it doesn't fit
anyone else know where to get 26mm rotors? i found some on ebay.
