Nardi horn button fitment

My 1990 240sx came with what looks to be a pretty cheap hub. I just bought a nardi steering wheel and after bolting it up, couldnt push the horn button in without feeling like I was going to break something. Do some hubs have a little groove for the wire thing that holds the button together, while others do not? Or do I just need to press harder?

take calipers and measure.
if the ID of the hub is too small, have it machined out to fit.

If it's not the issue mentioned above, try this:

If the nardi horn button is like the other japanese horn buttons, you need to use a flat head screwdriver to push in the springy wire triangle bit that sticks out from the side as you shimmy the horn button in.
That metal wire thing grounds the horn so it honks when you push it.
