I thought the minimum requirements for S-Chassis Drifting was:
- Coils
- Welded
- SR

second run from the day, my clutch was on its last legs. Didn't have the oomph to smoke out my 235/45/17 nexens at 45psi, and you see it bog down in some of the slower stuff.

if i let off the throttle, the car would take off on me as the clutch finally caught up and grabbed.

I'm understeering slightly, my front tire pressure was a bit high, and my rear brake pads are not as grippy as i'd like. i really have to get at it.

I'm going to uppload my first run of the day also, and i would appreciate some pointers. I think if my clutch wasnt slipping, i'd have done alot better.

Lol no, there is no minimum or maximum.
Just a large majority of drifters out here will put SR's into their car and build them up or go V8 then go out and drift letting the car do most of the work, then wonder why they are not as good as some of the other drivers who worked their way up.

Fix the clutch and put that 45psi up to 60.
I'm in the same boat as you.
Slipping Clutch and 235/45/17's lol

So, I am curious, how many of you guys are just drifting off of I/H/E with the stock ka? I'm wondering whether or not to get headers or just save that money for a turbo later.

I am on just a Intake and 248/248 Cam setup right now.
Slides 235/45/17's ok with a VLSD.
If I had atleast a Exhaust and 225/45's I would have no issues what so ever.

No need for the header, it'll just make shit louder with a low power increase unless your dropping money on a Hot Shot or DC then it makes decent gains. Justifiable? Not sure. I would just save for the Turbo setup.

My first S14 was CAI, 3" Exhaust, N60 & AFC Neo.
No issues spinning 235's.

No real need for headers IMO.... save it. My stock KA with a welded diff could spin 235s at 40psi all day long. Def fun to slide. Save the extra cash for boost.

I would just save money for the turbo kit. Pump up the rears and it will be fine.

KA240SX808- I am going to check my timing today on the KA to see if it is off, A couple months ago I replaced the headgasket and never reset the timing, just stabbed the distributor back in where I marked it was when I took it out. So ideally I should bump it to 25 degrees, and then what, run 91 octane? I've been using 87 the whole time.

Not if your running 87 lol.
Only if your running premium.
Should feel a nice bump in power.

Anymore timing is all on you.
I accidentally ran ~35+* on my first 14 after forgetting to tighten the bolts for the Dist.
Was fast as shit, didn't detect any WOT Knock but low throttle low RPM sounded like a drum session under my hood.
Don't know how it didn't blow up lol but I still have the motor as running proof lol.

Yep. Turns out my timing was around 12 or 13 degrees BTDC. I upped it to 25 and put some premium in it and it made a HUGE difference. The car pulls noticeably harder.

Also here's a quick video from the last event- the perspective (passenger) makes it harder to see how I'm driving but I will have a more complete video in a couple days.

You should do a little better now because that KA sounds like it's struggling more than it should in that video.

Why are people running 80 psi on a tire that states no more than 44 psi cold. And people wonder why tires dont last or they blow out . If you can't turn a tire over with your stock ka keep your stock wheels for drifting

When using new tires, I have never had a premature blow out. The set I used in the video above lasted all day (25+ laps) at 80+ psi and is still above the wear bars. My earlier posts were referring to using used $20 used tires at high pressures and having problems. It was an experiment to see which was cheaper- I've found in the long run its cheaper for me to just buy new!

Buying new is normally 99% cheaper in the long run.
And you can run 80 as long as you drop pressure once they come close to being slick.
Though I personally have never ran more than 60.

Any other s13 chassis peeps on here wanna share their reference points in the car during a drift? I feel like I could improve on mine but for me when I'm in a left turn I use the A pillar and for a right corner I use my side mirror. Helps me gauge the amount of angle I have.

I don't use reference points like that. Causes a distraction.
I just reference the course, you should know and feel when you know you've gotten too much angle for either the car, or the turn.

idk I kinda like to "aim" my car I find that it helps me drive effectively a lot more. When I'm drifting I don't let the inside of the corner get past either my reference points when I open my throttle. I'm sure you use some kind of reference point in your head regardless if you're aware of it or not. Right?

Anyone have some pointers? Vid is of my buddy at E-town. I need more seat time myself... but i do find that being able to learn by watching footage is important as well.

I probably do but it's unconsciously so I really can't say.
But for the most part I can feel when I'm getting too much.

Yeah I found that these help me out a lot during low speeds. Just wondering if anyone else on here has other methods of gauging the angle of their cars. I know what you mean with the feeling the g's as well.
