Help: Top mount manifold?

I've got a 97 240sx with a red top motor. My turbo is on it's way out and was thinking of goin to a t3/t4. What's the advantage of a top mount turbo manifold? I'm hoping to build up to 300whp and I was also wondering what would be a good size of fuel injectors to go with. I've read 720cc but my friend says to get 550cc. Any help would be great. Thanks.

what turbo do you have on there now?...T28, 550 injectors, and a 550 ecu flash will get you close to 300whp

Uh, ya...about that. I've just got the stock turbo (T25 I suppose) with a FMIC and manual boost controller. It's still running ok but it's starting to smoke a good bit. Everything was done to the car before I got it. I've got a T3/T4 turbo lined up for that car and of course I'm going to get cams, injectors, fuel pump and reprogrammed and all that. At this point I need to get an exhaust manifold and I was wondering why some are mounted on top...what's the advantage?

If you are going to use a T3/T4 you will need to high mount that turbo. Just have to make sure they are good quality lot of those ebay shit cracks after 2 weeks. Also you will have to remove your ABS unit if you have one installed. Its on the way of the dump pipe.

So, the top mount is just to make more room for bigger turbos?

If 300whp is all your shooting for, forget going top mount and T3/4 turbo. That can be had just staying bottom mount. Get a GT2871R, 740cc injectors, Zmaf, rom tune and call it quits.

Well, I'm starting to see the potential of this car. I've decided the I can get quite a bit more than 300hp easily. I'm going to go ahead and get 850cc injectors and I've got a top mount setup on it's way and my friend knows a place in Atlanta to dyno tune my ecu. He did my friend's 700+hp turbo lexus IS.

Well I'm midway between Atlanta and Nashville. Not really interested in having it done locally in Chattanooga. So either way will be about the same.....actually nashville is a bit further.
