Hey, sorry about no updates. Been doing some side projects for some friends.
Anyhow, I finally painted inside my 240sx. I used 2 stage paint, so that means a white base coat followed by a quality clear coat. My favorite part is where there is seam sealer but it's smooth. ( all bottom panels have been stitched with 1 inch beads by the way ) All this won't really matter anyways because it will be cover in Dyna mat and full interior. Also you can see in the first pic why it's masked off. I originally painted the rear section of the car and all sections above, allowed that to dry over a week and then masked that all off and just focused on the front half of the 240sx. This allows me to put down some nice coats without having to reach so far and potentially touch the wet paint, it also keeps the fumes down. Enjoy these photos... |

Hey Guys, I'm still alive. Just took a long break from the 240 as summer was pretty hot and busy. But, I'm back at her again. Pretty much used 3M sanding guide coat on the entire engine bay, blocked everything smooth, wipe it down with wax and grease remover. Started masking everything for seam sealer. Also there is these two gaps at the top of the frame rails in the engine bay, I think Nissan really fucked this up. The gap allows water to go inside the frame rails and rust it over time. Especially on the Driver side, Brake fluid will drip in there and started deteriorating the paint which allows water to start rusting metal. So, I SUGGEST YOU ALL GET SOME SEAM SEALER AND PLUG THAT BITCH UP.

Okay guys... So Exactly 1 Year ago, I made all the fab work for the front tubs... The proper preparation got it to where it is now... Painted my engine bay in a Toyota Super White II . By the way, the front end has been stitched, most of them all under the body out of sight.

Hey, been away from the 240sx project during the winter. It's getting warm now so I'll be getting back on that grind. Here's a 6 mins video on using Eastwood Internal Frame Coating on the 240sx frame rails, cross member, any other cavities, if anyone is interested. Sub up if you haven't, maybe it will give me motivation to grind harder haha.... Thanks

Looks good. I was planning on using that stuff on my long term resto project too, good to see a video of someone using it on something other than a truck box frame, haha! I definitely subbed a while ago.

Hey guys, just wanted to share the process of redoing my engine bay if anyone is interested.
This is a small clip on how dirty the engine bay is, the cleaning of it is pretty dirty. You have to do it no matter what. This is a 12 Mins video on how I choose to cut and weld my tubs. I tried to be as detailed as possible. Sub,Like,Comment if you find this stuff useful, I'm trying to pump out more content. To be honest, I'm gonna go broke building my dream car. okay, so this project been a long ass drag. Sometimes I drink just to get some mind numbing motivation. The worse part of this whole project is definitely the underbody. It was time to raptor line the underbody. The body was coated in Epoxy primer. So I gotta sand it again so that the raptor can have something to mechanically grip to. Raptor suggest at least 180 grit sand paper which I used along with this red brush that helps speed up the process since the underbody is full of contours and not friendly sanding surface. I used a black guide coat so I can see what I missed. Then I seam sealed every fucking seam, no fucking water is entering between panels 100%. I bought the raptor liner Vari Gun, which has an adjusting knob so you can fine tune and choose the texture you want with the raptor. I highly suggest this. After carefully masking this up, I SPRAY AND PRAYED. This is the last time you will see my underbody, Thank GOD!

Anyways, I'm taking a break from anymore body work. The only thing left is the exterior but that can come last. I wanted to get to the fun part now! I seen a set of used MAX JAX lift for sale, designed for low ceiling garages. My garage is only 8 feet 9 inches tall. This lift will do me good. It's made so you can bolt it down into the anchor bolts in the ground which sits flush. I can unbolt it when I want and move the lift out of the way.
Check out my rusted ass Canadian rear subframe. Started taking her apart. I picked up a non rusted, non hicas rear subframe for $80. Wire wheel the rust off my rear diff, sprayed it in Eastwood Acid treatment to neutralize the rust, sprayed it in acid etch primer, followed by some high performance satin black paint in a can. Did up my drive axles in the same manner. Using these until I can afford better axles. Broke ass 240 lift |
