If you have 13:36 to burn, here's KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov talking about how Russia (and China and Iran) are destabilizing the world: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOmXiapfCs8

Fascinating and scary. This is not new; it's been around for centuries.

I see disinformation literally every single day.

Wow. Catching up on this...just wow.

I already didn't want to come back to CA, and this further solidified it.

To touch on something:

- There were a LOT of links posted here. Did anyone talk about the list of books they are trying to push in CA schools? I'm still in Japan, so I only see/hear a little bit.

A lot of you have your locations hidden: what states are you living in? I have to start thinking about where I'm going to look for jobs. I'm asking here specifically because I've seen nothing from my fellow Californians that would make me want to come back.

AZ is too fucking hot.

TX is kind of flat...

I applied for a cool job in NC, but it's with the cool guys on Fort Bragg and that's really the only reason I applied.

Book list in schools is kinda irrelevant. I assume you are asking for the sake of your kids, and if you're thinking about your kids you better off without the public education system (home school'em). Watch the "California Insider" series on youtube (Epoch Times) they go into great detail on all of these hot topics that the left is quick to denigrate.

There is no Fort Bragg, only Fort Liberty because Braxton Bragg was a confederate.

I only bring up 'the list' because it serves as proof that people are trying to get this stuff into the school district.

We are trying to avoid CA, but IF we go back my in-laws have their kid in a decent private school and I would most likely budget for that. My wife (like so many others in this thread) is a teacher as well so homeschooling is definitely not out of the realm of possibility.

they arent trying, that would mean they are in the process of. the books are already in the curriculum and many teachers are either neo-marxists or following orders as to not lose their jobs or cause any ripples.

the only way to survive in a state like CA is to have a tight-knit community of friends/family with shared values where you can home-school and have plenty of social interaction. its not easy, but i know families who are doing it. but this is the least of your worries in CA, because its turned into the wild wild west with crime and homelessness

...yeah this shit is a last resort at this point. Are you still in CA? I'm looking for a former CA residen'ts point of view on where to look. I really feel super out of touch being in Japan for so long...

I mean Bragg was a shit tactician so I'm surprised ANYTHING is named after him...but yeah it's already been named after him for how many hundreds of years? Funny, NC changed the name but CA hasn't yet. They are named after the same Bragg...

From what I understand, the renaming passed January 1, 2021 and they will eventually all get renamed.

CA dragging ass, typical.

Re-naming things discussion aside, how is NC? I visited briefly when I was in Navy school. Can I have guns and cars there?

You definitely won't have a problem with guns and cars here. I am further center of the state than Fayetteville/Fort Liberty, about an hour and a half away. Depending on which county you live in and the age of the car, you will face safety inspection but if you know someone then even that isn't a problem.

I did a road trip to Savannah from Philadelphia earlier this year and spent two days between Charlotte and Fayetteville. I feel there were more old cars putting around and/or sitting in people's yards than any other state I've been.

Could be me stereotyping, but I didn't think guns would be an issue anywhere in the South, at least outside of dense urban areas...?

The patchwork of what will and will fly as roadworthy and whether or not local authorities do anything about derelict vehicles -- ESPECIALLY in the areas one will encounter once out of the population centers -- leaves me with no hard time believing this. Even along the major highway between here and Charlotte there are a couple of junkyards you can see right on I-85.

There are no vehicle inspections of any kind here in FL. Only one license plate instead of two like other states so that's cheaper. Another plus is you are not mandated to carry insurance on your motorcycle so that saves a bit of money. Plus no state income tax.

Our governor signed legislation for permitless carry so that's a big win also. It went into effect July 1.

That may be the case in coastal urban areas, but go into the central valley, foothills, or certain pockets of socal and it's red as a baboon's ass. You don't have to move outside of CA to avoid the blue, you just have to move out of the nice areas.

The whole point is to have balance. Who would want to live around hardcore republican OR democrats. In a normally functioning society, people are traditionally moderate in their views. Its this current massive imbalance thats causing all the problems, and its stems from top down.

There is no imbalance on the right.

The problem is the left has moved their goal post so far out that it makes that right seem "extreme". The Right has simply started to become more vocal.

Example. "There are only two genders".

This is leftist gaslighting. 10 years ago it wasn't even a question
. Now the statement makes you an extremist.

https://autos.yahoo.com/report-calif...120000026.html

The state is looking at instituting “zero-emission zones” soon.
The state of California is looking seriously at instituting or allowing local governments to institute zero-emission zones in the near future. In preparation for such a move, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reportedly is gathering information about classic cars and how their owners use them. We knew something like this was coming to the US and California would likely be first, but this is still concerning.

Good Times.

oh! more things californians cant have? awesome.

i can see it now, CA is off to greener pastures! it will be very important to have zero-emission zones in areas of los angeles that are litttered with homeless boosting power from the light poles in order to have electricity. those meth lab camper fires....... are those zero emissions too?

CA is beyond redemption

The pendulum swings do seem to be getting larger and larger. Easier to get people's support when you can convince them the other side has an evil agenda, which is easy to do when you have a propaganda machine to back you up regardless of what your claim is. Dig deep enough and all the sudden water turns frogs gay, the earth is flat, and vaccines contain microchips.

IMO the divide seems larger than it is because the people at each extreme are the loudest people in the room.

Could be, or it could be that our understanding of human sexuality has evolved beyond what's between our legs. A lot can change in 10 years.

I wonder how they're collecting this information. Must be through insurance companies, I can't picture most classic car owners voluntarily offering up any details. Hopefully they'll see that going after classic cars won't have anywhere near as much of an impact as they think it would, but then again, their heads are pretty far up their own asses...

Except for the fact that one side has an evil agenda, otherwise they would not be pushing laws in CA like taking custody of children from parents who do not affirm their child and bow to the woke trans ideology. Good thing Elon purchased one of the propaganda machines. The rest of the stuff you mention are just weak distractions used to confuse society.

Thats odd, antifa on the left have no problem showing up in masses and beating people up. More odd that the government pushes false narratives with fake white supremacist groups like patriot front. The extreme left is real. The extreme right? Not so real.

Some people must be vampires- even when presented with a mirror, they seem incapable of seeing a reflection.
