front struts top nut repair

strip top nut/cross thread. thinking of repair it with a tap/die. has anyone done or attempted to repair this? is it doable or just junk the struts?

if they're stock, junk em.
if they're aftermarket, use a die on the threads of the shock, but i'd suggest getting a new nut.
After you die em, inspect to make sure there is decent thread left, and possibly use loctite blue on the new nut, or a nut with a teflon insert.
