Fully built SR20DET, now what?

So I'm one weekend away from having my sr20 completely built with all performance parts. Once up I plan to run it 100 miles under 40mph/4000rpm, change the oil. Then run it for 400 more under 65mph/4000rpm, change the oil, tune it, then have fun!

Once I'm past that I don't know what to do. I want it to push between 280-320hp how should I go about getting this? I want to do it safely(for the motor), but quickly(aka "cheap"(not cheap parts, just the overall upgrade cheap)).

Where should I start? I have 272/272 cams and 12lb flywheel, other than that I can't think of anything that will help me get to the desired range. The engine is bulletproof now though so I feel safe pushing more power.

With the car i was given 550cc injectors. Can I just throw those in after my 500 miles but before my tune and call it good? Or do larger injectors require more fuel upgrades?

So I'm more or less asking whats the most cost effective way to get to 300hp? Suggestions. . . ? Thanks everyone!

Spend some time searching, as this 300whp goal has been discussed many times.

My personal opinion: 272 cams are pretty aggressive for 300whp. Stock cams can easily achieve 300whp with a gt28rs or better.

As far as breaking it in, take it easy the first 100 miles, keep the revs below 3k if possible, change the oil. Do the same thing at 500 miles and then you should be good to go. Use only regular oil during the break-in. After the 500 miles, you can start running synthetic.

As far as the car, you can't just slap injectors on without a tune...car will run like shit. Run an S15 turbo, its the cheapest option to get you to 300. Slap the 550's on, Z32 Maf and get the thing tuned. Cams, you dont need 270s, too aggressive for what you're trying to do with the car. Get some drop in cams, Tomei poncams.

Also, stop saying your engine is bullet proof. There is no such thing. All it takes is a shitty oil pump, shitty fuel pump, bad tune and you can kiss your bullet proof engine good bye.

haha cool cool! maybe I will switch out cams. I was on a time constraint and the only thing they had was the 270s. Thanks for the input! I'll look into the s15 turbo and Z32 maf and go from there.. Y'all are the greatest, thank you for the help.

Yah, 270 will hurt your car since itll shift the power band where the turbo isnt efficient. Think of it this way, bigger the boom stick, the bigger the hair dryer. S15 turbos to GT2871s are tiny hair dryers. Stay in the 256-264 10-10.5mm range for cams.
