I own a 92 S13 with a S13 blacktop. i have the s15 t28 with FMIC, SS radiator, intake, down/test pipe, and straight pipe exhaust. im almost done with my full suspension build. Now im in need of info on how to get better throttle response from my engine. thanks for the insight!

haha i already have their first gen HMIC. thinking of upgrading to the 2nd gen. im totally going to pbm whore out my car! does anybody know if cams or crank help?

ya pbm makes legit parts but are expensive to some. i want their oval exhaust!! anyway ya different cam setups will yield you to more bottem end torque/hp or more top end power. what are you trying to do with the car? dailydrifter, track day beater, ..?

i`d say add a couple of degrees of ignition timing, but with the crappy 91 octane we have, it`s not a good idea.

Daily drifter forsure! im stuck out on deployment so thats why i can afford pbm, its kind of bitter sweet b/c im losing alot of track time!

yeah its fully stripped with a welded diff. it needs paint but id rather have a dope primered car than a slow shiny one.

but back on topic i was trying to find what is the most cost effective way to increase boost safely. ive come up with re machine the deck, metal head gasket, head studs, cams, adjustable cam gears and boost controller.

more boost = bigger turbo = later spool.
pump fuel (except e85) = low compression needed = later spool.
cams = bad VE = later spool.

Basically, more power = less throttle response. Unless you use race / e85 fuel and high comp engine, NOS or nitrometh. The last 2 are not really "safe".

I suggest you learn more about engines before spending money on yours. And be clear about your goals, because basically you cant achieve more HP and better response at the same time unless you go bigger displacement (and i mean real bigger, not a 2.2L stroker kit)

get a standalone EMS, switch to a MAP sensor, get 740cc injectors, Tomei pon-cams and Tomei Arms M7960.

ok well that puts it into perspective. my wallet cant afford better throttle response. i just want reliable sliding power. does that sounds better from the mods i put down? IDEAS? GO!

i like how you think! prob going apexi power fc, borgwarner efr 6258, map sensor, with all the other tomei goodies including oil pan.

none of that will improve power or response though

and [pon-cams + 740s] = noob

[Response.... Drifting... Reliability... ]

If you can deal with an OEM turbocharger, 220-280 horsepower, you leave everything ALONE, stock turbo, stock exhaust, stock manifolds, stock cams, stock flywheel etc... and use the shortest, smallest, lightest, high quality intercooler AND plumbing possible.

There is your response, and reliability, and I believe it would also slide.
