j30 diff with 4.6 ring and pinion?

back into the 240 game, 20+ years. any one have any info on ring and pinion swaps with the j30 diff (6bolt axle flanges if that matters)? seems like itd all work since the j30 lsd unit can fit into the stock s13 pumpkin using the stock 4.08 r&p. is a 4.6 vlsd a bad idea on a stock ka24? lol

J30 were 3.9. Any R200 R&P can be swapped into the R200 case, just make sure they are married pair and you don?t mix and match gears/pinions.

oh yes, thats why i was interested in making the j30 a 4.6. in theory it makes sense and eventually ill try it. just wanted to ask if anyone had experience and if this actually made real life sense as well first.

The only situation where a 4.6:1 will make you slower might be autocross because you'll have to waste time shifting between 2nd and 3rd. 1st might be kind of annoyingly short on the street, that's user preference.
