I'm a fairly big nissan guy but I've never heard an explaination of the SX and ZX titles. As for DSM, it stand for Diamond Star Motor Company. Not sure if they are the parent company of Mistu or what Mistu used to be called.

sx?? sivila extras?
sx se sports edition is my guess
zx. i mean X is extra, or lux.

Z is the name of the car or what's left of the origal name after the "fairlady" part was dropped fron it when in the 2nd year of production it was thought to not sit well with the average US car buyer. and thus replaced with the liter size of the motor.

sx = sexy lol and se is sports edition im pretty sure
i think the s in sx is just a way for the company to make the 240 Sx a little brother to the 300Zx thats why they used the s and z but im probably wrong ...... lol

I poked around on the net for a couple hours one night just out of curiousity and never found anything explaining the letter designations of the 300zx and 240sx... However, seeing as how the 300zx is the Fairlady "Z" and the 240sx is the "S"ilvia (well, based on it, that is), I would say it's a reasonable guess that the "Z" and "S" are holdovers from Fairlady Z and Silvia names. As to what the "X" stands for, I have no clue. But you see it on a fair number of cars, so I wonder if it's just a designation they add to make sound a bit sportier or something.
