Pandem still killing the "lines that don't match the rest of the car" game. No one else can make disjointed shit like Kei Miura.

It is better than the generation before, I'll give it that. Hopefully some of the real world executions of this look will pull it off as well as this car does.

I'm excited to drive one of these, never cared much for the original, but this body/drivetrain change seems like an overall win.

Don't really understand the hype around chopping your brand new car up for a kit like this. Guess Instagram likes are worth more than keeping you car stock body/un-fucked...

Its a particular style. I personally like it because its bit bosozoku and old school nascar feel. Nostalgic 80s feel... not for everyone for sure but i like it more than the new Z.

Do you guys and gals really like the new Z? I think its just alright.... nothing to write home about...

I'm not a fan of the shaped fenders on the Pandem (just like the new WRX). Keep that shit to the SUV/ trucks.

The new Z is ugly as fuck. Until they figure out how to unfuck the back 1/4 of the car including the god awful taillight design selection, I'm not a fan. Hoping someone fixes that issue fast.

Oooooo I see what you are saying, but that is more of the paint job than the kit itself. Can be rendered out.....

But truthfully, its better than what most manuf. can built right now..... Heck, after I build this 240, I might go for one of these..... Was thinking an FD, but this looks as good on picture. Hopefully looks good IRL.

But can't we all agree it fits the bill:

1. Manual
2. 2800lbs
3. Torque Range - Peak torque 3700 RPM vs 6K from previous gen
4. HP 228HP - 184 FTLB....
5. Price - <$30K
6. Reliable AF probably.

I will agree that the Yaris does look rad. I'll also admit that I don't mind the GR86 either - I just don't like those flat metal plate finishing pieces. Looks like an after thought.

I've always respected you from afar. Now I will hate you from the shadows.

Countach levels of angular fender arches are shit. I really wish you guys could see that these 'innovators' in Japan are simply trying to do something 'new' only to get a leg up over their counterparts. His kits are stale so what does he do? Box fenders, yeah that will work. Speedhunters will promote him no matter what, and the Supreme kids will try to be the first to get the kit.

Heavy. Fuckin. Sigh.

EDIT:

OP, I know this is your thread but after reading that egregious title (What the new Silvia should look like) I really gotta say I hope Nissan never calls you for design ideas lol.

not the body kit, but the new Silvia/240SX/S-chassis has already been out since 2013: ZC6/ZN6 chassis.

I bought a new BRZ in 2013 because the car was pretty much what I wanted in a new S13: sub-2800 curb weight, 200 crank HP, rear wheel drive platform that handles great and is mod-friendly. Sure I can bitch about no turbo or anything else, but the car was damn fun and I got consistently high-20s MPG even with bigger tires.

Until Nissan makes a serious attempt at making a lightweight RWD car that isn't overpowered via a borrowed engine, I won't consider a new Nissan of any kind as my fun car. 2022+ BRZ? Very possible, especially if I decide to sell my S13 and S14 in the next 12-24 months...

I agree on the angular fender opening, not really sure why that's a thing. It's round because a wheel fits in there, sheesh.

Other than that, I like it. Hopefully there's a bit more innovation with this model and less rocket-bunny-with-one-thing-different kits.

Whenever I have to agree with Corbic, and angel does not get their wings. They are sent to hell.

I know style is a personal choice. I get it, I do...but I also think most people are just bored. The fucking car is brand new and people are already nutting over some shit render. God save us if we can't learn to just like shit for the way it is.

I miss the days when bodies were sculpted by hand in clay. Cars had a much more natural shape to them (I'm sure some exceptions exist). Computers really took away a lot of that and replaced it all with hard angles and geometric shapes.

I'll go back to yelling at the clouds now..

It's the human factor. The computer does what the designers tell them to do. Long story short, Kei Miura is simply trying to to keep up with the joneses and stay relevant. his poor computer probably wants to kill itself.

But you know what??? At least WE are sparking some interests..... I dunno but I felt this forum and car discussions were dying out. At least we have an affordable platform with some aftermarket kits to talk about....

Z's are not small platform rockets.... and pretty much no one other than miatas really have small affordable cars....

But like said personal preference.... if you don't like it maybe the Tom's version

Oh trust me, I'm not saying the kit is a work of art and something revolutionary we've never seen before because frankly, he makes the same shit fit every car with just modifying how the same fender molds to a new chassis and where the fucking LED front lights will go. I heavily dislike the metal side plates but at least he's putting curvy shit on curvy cars. I never will and never have had ANY RB or RB-inspired kits or parts on my car and very rarely do I see a car with the kit on it that I'm like, okay, that's pretty cool. EXTREMELY rare.

Love me again.

I actually think this particular build looks pretty good. The Tom's looks too much like a Tesla for some reason.

However, I agree with others - the fender arches completely RUIN the car. If they were round, the rest of it looks pretty good IMO. It's a shame we are seeing this a bit; WRX, now this - it doesn't flow and it doesn't work.

The new 86 IMO is relatively boring in design. Not as sporty as the one prior. But with mods, it can look decent as we are seeing in some of these builds.

I feel the same about the new Z (responding to your other comment). It's ok. Don't love it, don't hate it - but I have faith the aftermarket will make it more desirable.

I feel the same way. I think the creativity for the design was turned down in favor of making the car look more like the Supra and RC. A bummer, really...the car was a stand-out amongst the sea of Toyota cars that all looked alike.

Don't consider it - do it.

But first, a take you may not like. I think they made it look more like the Supra or RC because most people cannot justify a purchase at that price so they're making something similar for less money up front. This was normally the role of the Scion line but with that now gone, they've needed to bridge that gap of a cheaper, still somewhat tuner-friendly car. I don't necessarily agree with it but I understand it.

The car basically had to fulfill two different design directions.

Subaru's influences are all over the rear end. The front end is what Toyota is moving towards, as well as the interior.

At the end of the day, be glad someone is making an actual fun, new car to buy/drive. I'd rather have that instead of Nissan painting lipstick on a pig and spinning it as a new platform, or them constantly coming out with the final Final FINAL edition of the R35 that is now into year 14 of production.

I like the new GR86 better than the old model. I don't like the new base model though, the front bumper ruins it. I'm just glad someone is putting out something with classic sports car lines and proportions and no weird bulges, edges, or diverging curves. Supra is fugly and the 400Z needs some work at least. GT-R is only so cool because it's so bloody fast, otherwise I'd think they're ugly as hell too. They all look okay in black because it hides the odd lines. Make attractive cars again, sheesh.

Oh, same. I understand it from a 'conformity' standpoint, but like always the guy that romanticizes cars hates that.

In the same way I hate the 'conformity' if the car's design for the 86, I would say that especially rings true for Nissan. If, and this is the biggest if ever, they ever made a new SChassis I would pray to any God that would listen that they did NOT try to make it look like the rest of their cars.

...but knowing Nissan, they would.
