Just want to comment that there is a slight mis-wording in Phlip's explanation. When you neg-rep someone, the number of rep points you take away is equal to
half of your rep power.
Example:
If your Rep Power is 100, and you posi-rep someone, they gain 100 rep points. If you neg-rep someone, they lose 50 points. Therefore your posi-reps have greater effect then your neg-reps.
