If you can deal with an OEM turbocharger, 220-280 horsepower, you leave everything ALONE, stock turbo, stock exhaust, stock manifolds, stock cams, stock flywheel etc... and use the shortest, smallest, lightest, high quality intercooler AND plumbing possible.
There is your response, and reliability, and I believe it would also slide.
