Ok you are using the mounts in a situation that does not normally allow enough room in the engine bay for heat to escape i.e. engine is larger than what the engine bay was designed for. Second your engine creates way more heat than a KA/SR/CA.
So in this situation excessive heat is an issue.
This is not a normal situation nor is it a recommended situation. Under normal conditions with heat shields they work fine.
Though this swap has been done by others with my mounts, it is not an application I would warranty. Due to the excessive heat issues that come with this kind of swap.
I suggest to all.. Yes you do need a heat shield. Though heat wrap can work is not the most ideal. It actually can trap heat.
You would be better off taking a soup can drilling a hole in the end for the stud and dropping it down over the mount. You would probably want cut the can in half or 3/4 thereby creating an umbrella effect to dissipate the heat and allowing a cooling area between the mount and the heat shield.
