The biggest problem with politics in America is the the need to apply a president which aligns to red or blue (sorry green party is useless).
Metropolitan areas align to blue because they are so densely populated.
Rural areas align to red because they tend to be trade workers, and are spread out.
Two completely different ways of life will yield two completely different thoughts on how life should be led. In San Francisco, nobody is scared of, "Mexicans taking their jobs". Because nobody is.
But in North Dakota, someone can very well be scared of someone stealing their job, because it's a reality.
