3080 is an improvement for sure over the 1080ti. That being said my 1080ti still holding out pretty well on widescreen 3440x1440 monitor with higher settings and getting around 50fps with a lot of games still. Not quite convinced 3080/3090 and maybe big navi quite there with 4k gaming around 100fps.

if nvidia goes tsmc 7nm in '21 or '22 optimistic there will be good gains. also curious to wait out ryzen 5900x and rocket lake performance in a couple of months. I think it's more interesting to wait out at least until summer of next year.
