KA24DE Idle and stumble issues!

I have a '91 240sx with a completely stock kade. When it is cold, it idles at about 2000, and stumbles or misfires a lot. When it is warm, it idles low and sometimes wants to die. It starts right up when cold, but hesitates to start when hot. The previous owner said it needs an iacv. I smoke tested the vacuum system and I saw smoke coming from what I believe to be the air regulator, which is in the middle of the intake, so I can't really get to it without pulling the upper intake. I tried replacing the iacv last night, but Nissan have me the wrong one, so it didn't fix the issue. Also, timing is right at 20 btdc. What I want to know is would the iacv cause this issue? Is the smoke coming from the air regulator bad, or is it like an atmospheric release of some sort? I also though it could be the ECTS or the MAF. I'm going to check those tonight. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
