how hard would it be to install the cams off a 91 into my 95? is it worth it and what exactly would the install entail?

if you are swapping both exhaust and intake cams, it should be a direct bolt-in. If you are looking to put the 248 duration exhaust cam in the intake spot, it'll have to be re-pinned.

umm its both cams..... so direct bolt in? and how will i kno which cam is which, are they labeled or something? in your humble opinion is it worth it?

the cams are labeled with paint marks. The intake came has a green paint stripe, and the exhaust cam has an orange stripe.

thats funny, mine were white in the itake side and red on the exhaust side.

JWT cams label them both with red and u can only tell by the pin holes and alignment. wierd man!!!

No. you won't be pulling off the head. But if you ment valve cover gasket...then No. Its a rubber gasket and it should be fine still.

Going shitty so far, I might be sueing the other driver. But Honestly I dont know to much about the 91 cams. I dunno if the thing to do is swap the 91 exhaust cam into the intake spot or what. Someone else might have a bit more info. But Cams would be a nice thing to do. I would love a set, maybe JWT

ummmmm, guys......isnt the engine in the 91 EXACTLY the same as the one in the 95's?!?!

Nismos14
05-14-2002, 07:54 AM
the engines the same the cams were different which was part of the reason that the 91's were the fastest 240's stock, something about the cam profiles or something, n e ways they are more agressive in the 91's

ok, i've read that the cams in a 91, and a few 92's are the most agressive, sure, i believe it....

but i have also seen that nissun used a veritable buttload of different shims to get the cams in right.... soooo

which shims would u use if you did this?
were they to make up for imperfections in the block casting, or in the manufacture of the cam?

just curious

WELL U dont know untill u put the cams in
so u can swap different sized shims according to the specs they are supposed to be.

u may or may not need to change them, has to do with existing wear and tear and the fact that each engine is a little different.

i know on mine, i did not need to change any of the shims but i did use the JWT cams,

I think I inhaled too many fumes when i was working on my car... just for the slow ones like me.. A good mod for the 95-98 ka is to the get Altima DOHC intake cams and 91-93 240sx DOHC exhaust cams? What are the better years for the alltima cams? If we need to replace the shims, we get ones for our specific engine year right?? Please feel free to flame me to smitherines.... PDM racing sells shims for $7 a piece...

Well,
I have a 93 240 exhaust cam, and a 96 Altima intake cam.
both have been reground and current duration is 248°

The car improved acceleration lower in the powerband (2600 RPM) and made more HP to the wheels. 27HP gained from before the cams. 147 HP to the wheels before, 174 HP to the wheels after.

Wow 27hp is nice. Was that mod done with al the other bolt ons? I guess the large displacement of the KA plays a role too. 3.18 gears? I am not sure if Those are cam gears or not, and am unaware of if they are beneficial on KA's. You Couldn't post a dyno could you?
