Buddy swapped KA24DE into car, but didnt change the ECU's. Got it cranked it idles at about 400-500 rpms. As soon as you hit the gas it cuts off. I dont know if some sensor isnt reading or what? If you have any questions to make it any easier to help me ask away and ill answer asap. By the way it IS NOT throwing a check engine light...Thank You Steven.

Does it cut off at a certain RPM? or whenever the throttle is even touched?
What kind of ECU is he using? What kind of car? check maf wiring? Or TPS?

Some description would be helpful.

Its turns off if the throttle is even touched...Its a 91 S13, with a 93 KA24DE, stock ECU, I dont thinks it the MAF because it idles to smooth. How would i check if its the TPS? When we unplug the TPS, the motor cuts off. It is getting a signal.

the problem is that you didn't post enough info... get a multimeter and an FSM.

both important tools to have

Itll idle fine with a bad MAFS, unplug it and see how it runs. If it runs great until 2500 then its most likely the MAFS. If that doesnt work, check the ECU for error codes.

you guys arent listening. when the tb opens it doesnt do anything at all. it sits at 500 rmps at full throttle or close throttle. didnt post up enough info??? what else do you need to know...the motor runs tooooooooooo smooth to have a bad maf.

if opening the TB doesn't change the engine behavior, that suggests TPS to me. or bad ECU.

is there a potential problem with running the newer engine with the older ecu?

it does NOTHING when you open the TB? is this only from the gas pedal or could it be you didnt hook up the throttle cable?

No the throtle cable is hooked up. I got an another ECU and MAF from my buddies other 240 so im gonna try those 1 at a time and see what happens. I'll post what i find out if anyone is interested.

ok, we tested the ECU, the Maf, and the coil. The maf is bad. Everything else is ok. Yes, the throttle cable is hooked up. This is really odd, i've never seen anything like this before. Are you guys leaning towards the tps? Also, where is the Camshaft Position Sensor??????? Steveo looked through the FSM and couldn't find it? Anyone know?

Does anyone know what the stock voltage on the distributor plug is? Also, what is it on the TPS? I've got a multimeter that we can use, I just don't know the voltage. Thanks, Charles.

Also, new plugs and new wires. The previous owner disconnected the EGR stuff and just capped it. (Slackass!)

do you guys know??????????

Did that really need 3 posts? The FSM should have the voltage details. You can download them, but I'm sure you know that.

no one replied.... think of it as a bump.... you do know what that is... don't you? Oh, yea, of course you do... :o

Thanks for your help with all the other posts everyone. We replaced the TPS, didnt help, redid the exhaust cam swap and it cranked and idled pretty good. The only problem was the timing on the distributor was all the way advanced. So i left alone after that, came back to address the timing issue the next day and...it wonuldnt crank. I am offically stumped, so Ive decided to take it to a shop and get a diognostic run on it. Unless anyone else has some info. If so just IM me at WolfPackWalker15 on AIM. Thanks everyone, Steven
