Please don't cap in me but how many quarts of oil do you need for the KA24E's oil change, is it 4 I have some doubts because a 2.4 is huge for being a 1-4 inline. So I don't know if im going to need 5 quart bottles???

just get 5. Drain it all, use half a bottle to rinse the old oil out, and then fill with the rest.

^no... that's just wasteful. you'd have to run the engine to gat it all out. just drain the oil replace the oil filter and fill it. your gas milage will go up.

No. You get the oil out. Then when the oil is all out take off the oil filter and then start the engine to get all the dirty oil out. You will "know" when all the oil is out. Then fill it up with 4qts and you are done.

where are you guys coming up with 4qts? my fsm clearly says:

with oil filter: 3.5L or 3 3/4 qt
without oil filter: 3.2L or 3 3/8 qt

i love being a by-the-book ass...

I always use 4 qts, in both the Altima and the 240SX, duh. I don't flush out the old oil either - at least I am not that anal yet. I am anal enough to power wash the undercarriage after an oil change though :D

waynehead05, you are on altimas.net right?

why cant you drain and fill until the dipstick says full???

I take my dipstick out to save weight when racing.

oil filter holds some oil too?

FlyingChicken

in that case... can you fill up the oil filter with oil, then quickly twist the filter on?

thats what i do...precautions that i always take when changing the oil are to:

-dip your finger in fresh oil then trace and saturate the rubber gasket of the oil filter

-then fill the filter with a little bit of oil before reattaching to the block

just little things that probably dont make a difference, but dont take up much; if any, extra time...so might as well, right?

I usually only fill the filter halfway,,, less messy

i usually dont put on an oil filter to save weight.
i also use 4 qts of water instead of oil because its more light weight than oil.

saves HELLA weight... hella jdm too

it should be illegal to use the word "hella". I mean, if South Park makes fun of it, you know somethings wrong. Then again, they have towels who smoke pot. Don't listen to me, it's Friday.

I for one, as a southern Californian use HELLA all the time,my headlight bulbs for one.

i always disconnect the CAS after a change and let it turn over a few times before i start it. just a precaution, u dont have to do it

if you dont put on the oil filter, make sure you put some tape around the hole so that your water lubricant wouldnt spill out. The last thing you want is a blown motor. You might want to put 5 quarts of water instead. As you all know, water evaporates! I usually spit in the water i put in my motor as well, just for good luck.
